Figured out the Diziness culprit

My sugar dropped too low. In helping at the school today for field day (alot of activity on my end) I noticed I was getting severely dizzy. I am glad I brought a cheese stick in my cooler. Ate it and felt better within 4 minutes. Later about an hour, I started getting severely dizzy again, this is when the librarian brought out popsicles for every one. Had it and felt immediately better, again an hour later, dizzy again, another popsicle felt better. I believe my sugar is dropping too low now.

Now I do not eat full sugar popsicles ever, but with the 98 degrees in the sun ( no shade) and doing all the bending and running I was doing, I made the conscience decision that it would not hurt me at all.... I am glad I did eat those popsicles, no telling what may have happened.... Also during these 4 hours, I drank well over 64 oz of water.,

Glad you figured it out. Not liking it, but glad you know. Sounds like it's time to keep peanut butter crackers on hand every where you go.

I figured that's what it was.  Def. not fun stuff! I have to carry beef jerky or pb crackers with me.  I hope you get to feeling better! Stay hydrated in this heat ;o)

stacey - I keep glucose tablets in my purse for this very reason.  I found keeping peanut butter crackers with me made a mess in my purse, plus I was apt to eat them when I didn't really need them.  I've had to take the glucose tablet once so far...

Glad you figured it out, but 3 times in 1 day is a lot in my book.  You may want to check with your Dr...  and be very careful - you don't want to pass out as that means your sugar is dangerously low.

I agree 3 times in 1 day is alot but I believe it was because of working the field day in the heat 98 in the sun and we had no shade. I was jogging, bending and throwing balls. I am definately going to keep an eye in it and let my Dr know about it though.

Do you think it would be ok to keep a pack of crackers in my purse or even those individual containers of peanut butter with me?

I don't see why not.  I keep a pkg of peanut butter crackers in my car too.  When I'm home and get a sugar "episode" I take a spoonful of peanut butter and just eat it like that.  Works like a charm.  It has both the sugar and protein in it we need.  If you eat something that is just sugar, like a candy bar, then you are prone to the repeat cycle of the sugar highs and lows.  Maybe thats what happened to you when you were eating the popcicles.

My daughter and I were out in that heat on Mon/Tues and were getting dizzy.  We stopped, ate some lunch and got real hydrated and that took care of it.

Heat can do some real nasty things to you - just be careful.

Sounds like you have identified it but I would also run it by a Dr.  That is a lot of feeling bad.  Maybe there is something you can do that will help manage it better instead of reacting once you start feeling bad.  Eating more frequently?  I don't know just think it is scarey.

They do have those cute glucose tab holders just for the purse at Walgreens or cvs.  They are a little pricy, but I bought one, and keep refilling it with the economy size bottle.  I keep them in my purse for my son who needs them now and then.  They are convenient and easy, and taste just fine.  Sounds like maybe you need to graze more in summer.

I, agree, you need to run this by your doc. That is a lot of hypoglycemia in one day. Are you eating something, before you leave the house? Having appropriate snacks throughout the day would help. Sounds like you are keeping up with your fluids. Glucose tablets sound like a good idea.
