New to Lightweights Forum!

I didn't realize there was a lightweights forum. I started my journey almost 4 months ago and I'm currently 163. My ultimate goal is 111. I have had some struggles since surgery. I had to have my gallbladder out 4 weeks after my WLS and I also recently found out I'm allergic to sulfates which makes finding protein powder close to impossible. I'm thrilled with my weight loss to this point, but I also find it difficult to "see" the pounds I've lost. Also, I have trouble with wanting to lose weight even faster than I am now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I think I'm going to enjoy this forum!

Welcome aboard, EmilyLyn!   This WLS thing is a crazy journey to be sure. Hang though.

What kinds of foods have sulfates in them? I wouldn't have thought protein powders would but I know nothing about sulfates. Would eggs be in that category?

Sorry, another question for you. Are you on Dana McDonald's Facebook group, Nutrition Matters? She was Dr Spiegels' dietitian. She is here as Dakota80.

Welcome aboard.  We have several folks who have recently had GB issues.  Glad I had mine out years ago but again, it was after a dramatic weight loss.  It is really pretty common after a weight loss to have issues.

I don't know anything about sulfates either but I hope you can find a protein powder you can use and like.  They make life so much easier than having to rely on getting it all from food.

We all would like to wake up and all the weight is gone.  But it really is going faster than I imagine you have ever lost before.  I know it took me forever to see the change in sizes in the beginning but now even a few pounds gets a response.  Our bodies have to have time to adjust and as long as you are staying on plan, getting your water and protein, you will continue to lose.  Some just lose faster than others.

If goal is 111, you must be tiny.  There are many of us that are in the 4'11"-5'1" range.

Welcome aboard! I know nothing about sulfates, you will need to school me in them. It really is amazing what kinds of allergies there are out there.

111, WOW! I am 4'11 and getting past this 130 is killing me! If I could I know my Dr would be the happiest on earth. Good Luck and look forward to having you around.

Welcome aboard EmilyLyn!  Congrats on your success thus far.  Sorry your having sulfate issues.  I've never heard of that before but I'm sure it's not fun.

I'm 4 years out and still think I'm 230 pounds.  It's hard to wrap my head around it.  It's just par for the course I guess.

Congrats!

Welcome, Emily...

We had surgery at about the same time.  I'm also having issues with my gallbladder...will be discussing options this week with my doctor.

We don't always see the lbs on the scale...sometimes the loss is in our measurements. If you haven't measured, then on your surgery date this month or next month if this one is already passed, measure yourself and then once a month do it again. Even the months with little weight loss you should see a drop in inches.

As to protein powders, Vitalady is stuck here near me and I will see her today...I will ask her if any of hers are sulfate free or if she knows of one.

Good luck.
