Good luck! I think they just want to make sure you are being realistic about what to expect and that you know losing weight won't solve all your problems or give us world peace. lol  Almost there!

Welcome.  You have found the most helpful group on OH.

I had to fill out an extensive questionarre and we went over the answers.  It was pretty simple.  But I work with psychologist all the time and have no fear of them.  My Dr has one who works for him and you can see her anytime during your weigh loss process or for the rest of your life.  Pretty good benefit.

Mine was unbelievably simple. In a nutshell, the Dr. was making sure I understood I was having a major surgery, and that WLS is a TOOL, not a total solution. I also emphasized when asked, that I wished to be "healthy"...

Being THIN is an added bonus, but certainly not the correct answer.

I'm sure every eval is different, they told me mine was going to be 3 hours also, I was done in half that time.  I think it was 350 questions, fill in the bubble on a scantron type thing.  There were alot of repetitive questions, just worded differently.  For example, "Do you find yourself completely responsible, mostly responsibly, somewhat responsible or not responsible for your current weight?" Then 20 questions down the line you would find "Are you in charge of your own weight." Then another 20 questions down the line you would read "Your weight is in direct relation to how you eat and exercise."

On mine there were maybe 50 questions regarding weight and weightloss, the rest were depression, patience, stress and anger type questions.  Nothing too crazy, just answer truthfully, don't go back and change answers because of a way another question is worded.  It makes you second guess yourself!

Hope this sheds a little light.  I'm sure you'll do just fine and will be joining the loser's bench in no time!

I am sure all evals are different, I had a questionare to fill out then talked to the psyche, but I did no talking.. I am the only one (I think) who can get a psychiatrist to talk about herself LOL... I learned her whole life history in 1 hour.. Learned alot.Good Luck and Welcome to the best board on OH!

My ins required me to have a psych eval and 5 sessions with the psychologist. My eval was a extensive questionnaire of multiple choices covering the areas of support system, coping skills, stress level, depression, etc - just to make sure that you're mentally stable to undergo the process.
Hope you get your approval soon.!

Welcome!!!!   We LOVE Newbies!!!!!

Mine was simple too.  He asked me a lot of questions on how and why I decided to do this.  He also wanted to know if any one was forcing me or if it was my decision.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!
