OT Please Swing Lizards *Update*

So, JJ didn't seem much better today so I took him to the vets.  I was so afraid he was going to tell me it was time to put him down.  I love this vet.  He is very good with animals and very good at diagnosing without a lot of unnecessary tests.
So he came in and the first thing he said was "He is going downhill".  My heart sank.
He took a look at him and examined him and said that it looked like JJ had hurt his back and because it was tender he couldn't squat and go to the bathroom.  My dog was constipated!
So, he gave him a shot in the back and an enema and JJ is doing much better.  I am so relieved.  Of all the things I expected him to tell me, I have to say that was the last thing I would have thought of.
Thanks so much for all the lizard swinging.  I have been a wreck the last couple of days thinking I was going to lose him.
Also, he listed to his heart and said it sounded much better.  I am so happy.  I want that dog around for a long time.

It sounds like you have an amazing vet!  I'm so glad JJ is doing better!  I was looking this morning for an update.  Does he seem better since the enema and the shot?  Poor little fella, I can't imagine being that small and constipated.  I'm glad his heart is sounding better.  Constipation is the last thing I would of thought of as well.  Any idea how he hurt his back?

He is still tired but he seems perkier.  Still not eating but the vet told me to give him low sodium broth for now and to put heat on his back.
I asked the vet if it could be arthritis but he thinks he tweaked it jumping off a sofa or something.  That suprised me because JJ is a big baby and even the tiniest of owies and he will cry and cry.  I can't imagine him getting hurt and not letting me know.  He is a bit of a hypochondriac and also has been known to fake something for attention.  I knew he was really not feeling good this time because he wouldn't eat.  Normally when he is faking for attention after a lot of loving and some treats he is fine again.

Tell JJ that I can relate - I know that feeling! So glad the vet figured out what was happening.

Taz,

I missed your earlier post as I was out of town but I am glad JJ is doing better.   I have been dealing with health issues with my own doggie so I can relate.  I also went through that "thinking of if I was going to lose my beloved pet"....it is horrible to even think about.  I pray both our pets will heal up and be okay for awhile.

Thinking of you!!!

JJ is doing great today.  Back to his old self, begging for food.  Of course I have been spoiling him
I know I have had a year to get used to the idea of losing him but all I could think of is "I'm not ready".  I don't know if I will ever be ready to lose him.  I've had him since he was a puppy 11 years ago.  I just can't picture my life without him.
I have heard from some other people who have had their dogs diagnosed with congestive heart failure and they have all outlived the vet's expectancy so that gives me hope.  One little guy lived for 23 years, 8 years after he was diagnosed.
