stomach bug? now what?
Warning - potty talk below!
Well, this is a new one for me. I started having diarhhea (the watery variety) a couple of days ago, which is the opposite of my usual "issue" since the surgery. I had to go to DC to present so I bought some Immodium last night and hoped for the best. I got through the event but I have been getting to the bathroom in the nick of time all day. I am fine and then boom, time to go. I've lost 2 pounds in two days - which I am sure to gain back when I feel better.
I have been eating lightly just to keep up my strength - a RTD and half banana this morning, a piece of bread and a few bites of chicken (bad idea!) for lunch, a few crackers tonight. I am sipping water because I can tell that I am getting dehydrated. I have a little fever tonight of 99.5.
Normally, I would just say that I have a stomach bug and leave it at that. Then I got to thinking, is there anything that I should be considering based on my post-RNY status. Do I need to let the doctor know? What should I be eating? I figure white rice is out although I've never tried it post-surgery. How about chicken soup? Gatorade?
I welcome advice from LWs who have been there and done that! Thanks, my friends.

Probably just the flu..I had it recently and I tried to drink my protein drinks and I made some chicken broth..I was sick for about two days. Are you experiecing any stomach pain?? If no stomach pain I would give it at least 48 hours and see if it gets better...be sure to stay hydrated since you are loosing alot of water...
Sounds like a bug instead of something related to surgery. I haven't been sick yet, knock on wood, but you do need to stay hydrated. Seems like I have read something about leaving a clear sf soda out to defizz but maybe that is for nausea. The things I think of eating/drinking with a stomach bug are not how I eat now, but chicken broth should be fine and you can add protein to it or use the Unjury chicken broth. I keep a couple of packets around for whatever.
Good luck. Being sick is no fun.

Oh wow - having that happen while on the road, and presenting - that's got to be stressful!
I agree with the others - just stay hydrated. You didn't indicate if you've had nausea or any problems with tummy upset, etc. If not, just get down what you can.
If you're still running the fever in a day or so, I'd go to the Dr.
