Hi everyone! I just discovered this message board...I was lurking on the bypass board for a bit and read a thread refering to this message board! Anyway, I just wanted to say hi! I had RNY on 5/9/11 and am currently 211 from 245. Yes, I'm excited that I lost the weight, but I haven't lost anything in about a week! I am hoping this is due to water retention from my quickly approaching period, but I have been a little ravenous feeling. I have introduced soft foods, but only seem to feel "full" when I eat meat? Is this normal? I really hope it is just my period making me feel like a bottomless pit! I don't want to stretch out my stomach! And I am terrifed that I won't lose anymore weight because obviously I have failed at weight-loss or I wouldn't have gotten RNY, ya know? So I am just feeling down :( I was losing so fast in the beginning that I thought for sure I would be under 200 at my nexy doctor's appointment (June 16) but now I'm not so sure...I want to start working out (preferably jogging) but I still have an incision that needs to be packaged. I don't want to tear it due to erm...gravity lol. Anyway, if anyone has advice about weight-loss and coping with period cravings, I am all ears! Nice to meet you all! :)

Lightweights lose slower ... sometimes its a SIZE thing hen you cant even measure the difference on a scale ... but the GOOD news is
we very often get to goal or even below and we maintain pretty well too ..
Ure definitley in the right place ! personally I woudlnt try to rush the losing ... U want to preserve the muscle tissue U Have to burn calories even at rest forever and ever ...

Hello!! First of all, you are down 34 pounds already~that is AMAZING! I had my RNY 3/16/11 and I am only down 41 total. But I didn't have a big loss in the begining, has just been slow and consistent. I have even hit a few weekly plateaus too (usually around TOM) but then I seem to lose a few pounds the next week. I also find that I don't lose as much when I'm not getting my 64oz of fluid in every day.
So glad that you found this board. The people here are alwasy so positive and helpful and caring. I'm not able to go to our pos-op support groups due to schedule, so these folks have been my support group and I don't think I would be as comfortable with who I am and where I am now without them!!
Welcome. You are doing great. You really didn't expect to keep losing at that rate, did you?
You would be down to nothing, way too fast.
You still shouldn't feel full. Your nerves were cut during the surgery. That is why it is important to weigh or measure your food and follow your plan.
Can't help with the TOM stuff, way past all that.

Glad you found us!! I love this board...sounds like you are really doing well! Wow...I know what you mean about the period thing though, thats how I know when im getting close to mine, I get HUNGRY
like nothing is going to cure it hungry...that last for about 2 to 3 days and then im back to myself..during that time I make sure I get my protein in first, then water, then if im still hungry I eat something else..but usually after I get my protein in, wait 45 minutes, drink, im not really hungry anymore. As far as feeling "full" everyone is different..personally I still feel full after drinking except when its that time of the month then nothing makes me feel better..head hunger vs real hunger I guess. Anyway, hang in there sounds like you are doing really well...
