Good Morning. I'd like to invite a dietitian to the LW board
I say bring her on over. I think having her on this board would be an asset. I hate that she got flamed on the DS board.
I think the difference between a NUT and a Dietician is that anyone can say they are a nutritionist, but a Dietician has a degree. Is that right? I may be wrong. The heat here in South Carolina is getting to me. Our AC unit is not working 100% and I'm hot. It's currently 78 in the house with the AC on full blast and all the fans running. I dare not go outside unless I'm in the pool.

lol Well, I think a NUT can be a registered dietitian on paper but if she won't listen to her patients and adapt, she's still a NUT. To me a NUT is one that preaches from the book as if it's gospel and won't take her learning any further. A dietitian continues to learn and research. She adapts her recommendations to include successful things her patients feel safe enough to share with her. She listens to successful people like Vitalady rather than look down her nose because Vitalady has no initials after her name.

Sounds good to me. My NUT does not like protein drinks so as long as she is ok with those she is ok with me.
It is sooo hot here. We are leaving in the morning to go to the beach!!! I'm ready to go right this minute....
Hope your blood work comes back good.. I have to do a few of mine next week and then the big one in July for my August appointment with my surgeon.
BTW - my liver ultrasound was fine - nothing abnormal showed up. She is still doing some more blood work next week just to check a few other things out and to see if my WBC has come up any.
Have a great day.

Hi!!!!!!!! Oh wow. Thank you very much.
I am flattered and can not thank you enough.
:)))))))))
I am Dana...
Registered Dietitian in Houston, TX.
I have 5 - 6 years of clinical experience (primarily ICU) and ~ 1 year of bariatric experience.
I recently resigned from a bariatric surgery practice and plan to collaborate with 2 new non-surgical physicians very soon to provide pre and post-operative medical and nutriton care to bariatric patients.
I've been around the OH board for about 3 weeks now and have learned an incredible amount by simply reading the boards and speaking with you all, but I still have SO MUCH to learn. :)
At times, it is overwhelming. lol
My books and articles are spread out all over my kitchen.
It is like I am in school all over again, but I LOVE IT!!!
When I left the cardiac ICU I assumed life would be slower, less challenging.... but it has been the complete opposite. :) I feel like I found my niche.
The field is truly fascinating and I believe it to be an underserved area of medicine (post-op care, that is) so here I am. Mother's day weekend was a blessing in disguise. lol
You are welcome to add me as a friend on Facebook and I will add you to our group as well. It gets rowdy at times, but I feel that there is a lot of great information there!
I'm excited to be here and can not thank you enough for welcoming me. It makes my day!! :)

Dana, glad you joi9ned us...you will find that the LW's are very accepting of people, we have all surgeries represented here and adhere to a creed that keeps us on of the friendliest groups on OH.
I remember your baptism by fire on the DS board...won't find that here, I promise.
