I mix my protein powder with ff milk for the extra protein. Is that wrong? Should I only mix it with water? I love my protein powder (Biogenesis ultra lean) and I have zero problems getting it down. I could drink it all day!

I mix mine with milk because milk has protein and needed vitamins that we might or might not absorb. Water doesn't add anything to us except keeping us hydrated.

Because I can handle the fat (and actually need it), I mix mine with whole milk (lactaid variety).

hey kelly!  you're doing great!  i've always mixed my protein shake with ff milk!  just add the extra protein in!    hope you feel better really soon!  not to worry!  you're still in the "OH MY GOSH!" stage!  and you will be much better when you get that drain tube out!  i had almost no energy for the first 5 weeks after my surgery....just make sure you sip, sip, rest, rest....sip, sip, rest, rest....and repeat!!

take care of yourself!!!

Hi Kelly!  Your head is exactly where it's supposed to be!  Most of us doubted ourselves or doubted the surgery early on simply because we thought we could eat too much.  Not to worry... like my surgeon said (with a very cute grin)  "It'll catch up with you."

Sip, Walk, Rest... keep it simple.  :-)    The rest will come.  You are in the very early stages of healing and the best you can do for yourself, you are already doing!  Sipping fluids all day long!  Your fluid intake will increase as the healing progresses.  Not to worry.

You're doing just fine... except for that annoying drain tube!   Can't wait to hear how your appointment goes.

Hey Kelly - I was SURE I was the WORST WLS patient EVER ...

I woke up RAVENOUS .. I tried to sneak downstairs to Au bon Pain in my nightie ... I mean don't worry ... Ure not alone lol !!

Part of it is being a darn food addict U know ... our brains are addicted to a serotonin release from scarfing down excess food ... ( particularly fatty carbs) .

Now that those are taken away .... theres a sense of emptiness and loss .. and just something " missing "

dont be surprised if U have mood swings these first 6-8 weeks , the occasional crying jag or even thoughts of " buyers remorse ".... I wanted and fought for this lifesaving surgery like the DICKENS and i had all of the above lol !

Be careful that U dont eat too much and stretch Ur still healing pouchie OUT !! it matters how it heals VERY much for Ur future success !!

U CANT eat enough to satisfy Ur BRAIN no matter what U do .. U HAVE to suffer through the withdrawals .

Trust me in 6 weeks Ull be looking back and so glad U toughed it out !!

PS when U feel cravings .. walk the halls .. do LAPS ... it also lets U go home faster talk to the other patients ... take a shower ...

Once  again im having a hard time really  listening  ( I'm gathering Ure home and hardly able to walk from the drain )  ((((((()))))) Kelly .

I think my ears are still ringing from the stepson's  weekend of constant  insults  !   Sorry  ...

It  really  doesnt sound like Ure eating a lot  but  be careful ... its easy to stretch out the little tender healing pouchie and its not something U wan t  to do (  I think i did  it myself  and i can eat a LOT more at a sitting than Ur average bariatric bear now ... )

as far as  drinking  and eating i wouldnt  keep siping if Ure overfull just give the pouch a chance to gradually  empty out  ...
