Been dizzy for 3 days.  Missed work and then Sat morning actually passed out taking a shower.  Woke up in the tub with  my husband banging on the door because he heard me fall.  I think I have low blood sugar because my friend tested it one night at volleyball.  She said I was too low (45)  I called the clinic and they told me to make sure I am eating 3 balanced meals a day.  I have been forcing myself to eat and eat.  I am getting in all or as much as I can of protein and take all my meds religeously.   I know I should go to the doctor but don't have insurance till July to go.  I don't have blood testing kit myself so I don't know where I sit now.

I'm sorry you're going through all that. You might want to read several of the recent posts about reactive hypoglycemia. Sounds like that might be what you're experiencing. Of course, do address this with your surgeon as soon as possible. In the mean time, if you feel another episode coming on, eat some peanut butter or a peanut butter cracker if you're away from home. Also, please get your labs checked soon, as you may be low on some critical elements such as potassium. Take care.

If I remember correctly, we had quite the conversation about dizziness when I was 6-9 months out.  Several of us were having the same problems.

Some might have been blood pressure, but mine was fluids.  I can tell now when I don't have enough fluids as I get lightheaded.

Drink up!  drink more water than you might want then see how you feel.  I'm not going to rule out RH, but give the fluids a try too.

I think Jody is right. Check your fluids, honestly. Are you getting 64+ ounces a day?

I am about 6 months out as well and I can tell you I had one of those dizzy spells last Saturday and I know exactly what it was...lack of fluids!! I struggle to get in 64 oz of water a day, Actually I feel there were some days I only got in about 48 oz of liquid and I felt it. I have started to refocus on my fluid intake and it has made a difference. I seem to only be able to drink my protein shake and very ice cold water, with no flavorings. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

hmmm..... not having insurance sucks like a big puppy on a tiny front tit.  But worse than that is having a serious problem and not knowing exactly how to make it better.....

even if you don't have insurance, you can still get health care.  If you are like me, and don't want to take something for nothing, you can donate your time somewhere to "pay it forward."  Please, at least call your local clinic or hospital and ask what your options are.

And if you need a blood sugar monitor, they can GIVE those to you for free, with at least a couple months worth of test strips.

PS.  Playing hard sports like volleyball with low blood sugar can cause you SERIOUS problems.  Maybe you should consider not exercising until you eat ??
