I'm back home

Hi all,

Well I'm back home now from hospital and so far I'm doing well apart from bad backache and referred shoulder pain.

The doc did that surgery said that when they put the first lapriscope in they found lots of adhesions so they had to clean them all first before they started the operation.  He said it took 3.5 hrs in total and they only bypassed about 5cm (2") removed from the small intestine.  He said that by doing it that way I shouldn't lose too much malabsorption.  Nevertheless I still must take all my supplements.

Thank you all for the lovely replies to my darling hubby who I was amazed that he managed to post a message to you all.

Cheers from Karin (in Oz)

Welcome home, Karin. Your hubby is very sweet. Glad all went well. Revisions are pretty tricky. Take it easy.

The gas pain and the back pain are worse than all the stab wounds in m belly.  I have five entry points all between 1 1/2" - 2" in length.  The back pain has had me in tears as it's so bad today.  :(

From what I've read what the doctor did was like a Mini Bypass.  Does anyone else know much about a mini bypass?

Cheers from Karin (in Oz)

Besides walking to get rid of the gas, I had two other suggestions that worked as well...one was to "rock" back and forth. The other was to have someone rub your back.

Heal well Karin.....glad to see you are home and healing well.    Your husband's posts were very sweet!

As far as the mini bypass....if you go to the North Carolina forum there is a lady who posts each day who I believe had a mini-bypass years ago. I really do not know anything about it except for what I read on her profile.  Comment on there and I am sure she will share the info she has.

Good luck!
Take the pain medicine until that gas is OUT!

I'm  glad you are home.  Home is the best healing place for me.  Walking and shipping will continue to help.

It was nice to get updates from your DH.  He was obviously very concerned with you.
