So Disgusted and Frustrated

It's been awhile since I have visited the Lightweights Board and I see so many new faces.  I'm hoping I can get some help.

About a year ago I changed jobs and my work schedule.  I went from night work to day.  I hadn't worked day work in almost 20 years.  Here I found myself not only with a change in hours, but a change in my routine, from my eating habits, to my exercise and sleeping  patterns. I am so frustrated and disgusted with myself.

I am four years out and regaining weight.  My energy level is nonexistent and I seem to be hungry all the time. I pack my lunch but find myself straying and eating things I know that I shouldn't.  There is food and some form of temptation everywhere.

I sit in front of the mirror look at myself and cry. I am at a lost and just don't know what to do?

Any advice and suggestions would be so helpful.

I'm sorry, Sweetie. I've seen Vitalady's grads go back to a low carb diet and they were able to take regain off. I think there's a new group here too for folks wanting to low carb. Lee has a link in her siggy I think. I'll look and edit here if I find it.

I think if I were in your shoes, I'd go back to basics using protein shakes for nutrition and dense protein as a filler with a few raw veggie carbs mixed in for luck.

((hugs))

So sorry you are going through this.

I think Gina gave you some great advice. I think stress does push, atleast me to wanting carbs and not the dense proteins.

It is so hard to change shifts. I used to rotate and it was tough on my system.
Are you sleeping? Or sleeping well?
Things may get better if your sleeping pattern improves, if that is a problem for you,

Have you had a check up lately? Just to make sure you are not hypothyroid or anemic?
Are you on track with your vitamins?

Are you drinking with your meals? Make sure you are waiting 30 minutes before and atleast 30 minutes after eating to drink to keep your pouch fuller longer.

Keep posting for support and let us know how you are doing.

Hang in there!

Hi Maria, and thank you so much for your support.  My sleeping pattern is totally whacked and off key.  I may just try Roz's suggestion of the Tylenol PM because its been a little over a year since I changed hours...and no I don't sleep all night.  I sometimes wake up at 2 or 3am.  I don't even use an alarm clock because I'm already up.

My day is supposed to start about 5am, I can count the times on one hand when I've slept to 5 in the morning.  Not even on the weekends.

I will start posting and stop lurking for support.

Thanks again.

Sorry, to hear that you are struggling.  Even the slightest change in my daily routine gets me all worked up so I can't even imagine dealing so many changes at once.

Gina's right about starting back at basics.  Did you use Protein Drinks or did you lose your weight without them?

Protein...Protein...Protein!!!  If you have to grab a snack then make it Protein and cut out as many carbs as you can, even fruits. Take beef jerky, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. in your lunch so that while others are eating you have something good for you to eat.

Posting every day on the LW Board keeps me thinking about making better choices.

Have you gotten your labs done lately?  Lack of sleep can cause us to make bad choices and it can also make us feel frustrated and disgusted with ourselves.  Every once in awhile I have to take a Tylenol PM just so I can get a good nights sleep and it does wonders for my attitude.

(((HUGS)))

Hi Roz,

I've had my labs done and everything is good.  I did use Protein drinks when I was losing and I still use them today...I just love them.  I will start posting my meals here daily and maybe I can get some pointers on things that may be a problem good, bad or indifferent.  I've been so desperate I had even thought about taking diet pills to curb my appetite, never thought I would have ever been at this stage in my life again...now how crazy is that!

I will post daily with my progress, and thanks again.

Look up 5 day Pouch Test...
and do it..
even if it's not perfect...ie..if you don't make it through liquids without some solid protein...it is a really good jump start and gets you off of carbs...that's the hardest part...the detox from the carbs and it's real...good luck..SEAVIEW

Yes...the 5 day pouch test....that might be a great way to start!!

Glad to hear you still use Protein drinks.  Do you take Prilosec or something similiar.  When I forget to take mine for a couple of days my tummy rumbles like it's hungry.  It's a terrible knawing feeling.
