A New Day, A New Size - for those who love clothes

I've been fortunate in being able to shop in my closet as I have lost the weight but the pickings were slim, so to speak, for sizes 14/16.  I decided to treat myself to a visit to the outlet mall in Seattle while on business there.  I chose Seattle because one of my closest friends lives there and she is my reality check when it comes to clothes.  She literally dragged me to Nordstrom's last tie to get a decent bra.  Wow, what a difference!  The girls are much happier!

I have always hated shopping for pants.  I am blessed with a round belly and slender legs.  I figured that I would be lucky to squeeze into sixteen pants.  With much prodding from my friend, I tried a variety of light-weight pants at Coldwater Creek Outlet.  I started wtih size 16.  My friend said that they were too big.  I protested.  She said "don't make me do this."  She then instructed me to stand straight and put my arms out.  In a flash, she whipped the pants off of me to the floor.  I have not laughed so hard in years - I was crying.  It still gives me a chuckle.  

I am wearing size twelve jeans as I write this post.  I was a size 22 at the end of November. I am blown away.  This body image issue is tricky.  Yes, I still have a belly but it is not a size 22 belly.

I encourage you, my friends, to try smaller sizes when you shop.  You could be pleasantly surprised!

Congrats!  I think it is a great feeling to realize you are smaller than you thought.  My husband just made me donate my last pair of 18's because my daughter pantsed me in the middle of the mall.  I've taken to wearing sweats and the like until I get under a 14.

Congratulations, babeee! Single digits are right around the corner. I think it's a real good idea to shop with an honest friend, especially with our crazy body image issues.

I'm only 30 miles north of Seattle! I'm so glad you had a friend there who encouraged you. I think most of us have/will have problems figuring out what will fit. Congrats on going down so many sizes!

YEAH for friends and YEAH for size 12's!!!!!!! 

I am lucky enough to have my DD#3 who keeps me straight.
