It looks like these people were eating carbs, leading to a cycle of hunger and more carb eating. This is an education issue. I don't plan to eat carbs post-op other than those found in fruits and veggies based on what I've read, and I'm ok with that.

Refined carbs should be avoided after any WLS, or anyone who has a weight problem for that matter.  They add nothing nutritionally and contribute to a lot of weight gain.

as an RNYer  I just  have to add that  I agree  from my own observation on MY body with some of these articles  ..and that they explain a LOT   about  persistent regain issues in RNYers   *****ally HAVE tried .

( I know many )

you do have a craving for carbs  ( not that i didnt eat carbs before my operation )  ...specifically  bread  , that sort of thing .

Its pretty easy  to get TOO  low  and  not be able to function ...

and when U eat enough  to function well its very hard to lose  (  at least 4 me ) .

Id really like to lose  10 more lbs!  its proving VERY elusive though  ....thanks to snacking  ...   and i eat fat free ..

I think if I ate "lowfat  " or just didnt  know as much about nutrition and  wasnt as careful to  readand analyze  EVERY SINGLE LABEL  I'd  definitely be bigger ....

Wow, lots of articles and good for people to know exactly what they are doing and that it isn't magic.

Truth is, there is no big mystery to weight gain - when you eat too much, you gain. Surgery or no surgery.

There is no magical fix, just a variety of tools to help. We just gotta make the best of them and try our best.
