Quick intro and questions
Welcome to the LW Boards and congratulations on your surgery.
It sounds like you are doing a great job. 20 pounds is a great number. Did you do your measurements before surgery?? If not, do them now because that is a great thing to watch as the inches disappear.
If I were concerned about the pain, I would call the surgeon's office and speak with a nurse. Pain is different for all of us. It never hurts to be check to be sure.
Good luck.
Linda

Thank you all for your encouraging words. You are all right. When is the last time I lost 20 pounds in 5 1/2 weeks? When is the last time I lost 20 pounds and knew I was going to keep it off? I think a lot of times people, myself included, go into this halfway expecting the weight to fall off immeadiately. I do weigh daily, but I realistically know that my weight may fluctuate due to all kinds of factors. So when it goes up on any given day I don't freak out. I know as long as I do what I'm supposed to do it will come off......eventually lol.
I called my surgeon's office about the pain. I'm waiting on a call back. I've had some muscle pain but it seems in the past few days it has gotten much worse. Today it is pretty brutal. It seems to be worse when I move around or take deep breaths. I had adhesions after my c-sections and had similar pain just in a different area. I'm wondering if that is what is going on now. I'm also having issues eating and drinking today. Both are very painful. So I've backed down to full liquids in an effort to give my pouch a break just in case it is PMSing today.
Again, I just want to thank you to all of you for your responses. I've got 2 sick kids today or I would take time to type a more detailed response. If anyone wants 2 sick toddlers let me know. I'm giving them away!

I think most of Ur tummy pains right now are just Ur internal stitches healing up - it takes a full eight weeks for the first healing together ..and longer for a COMPLETE job lol... so be careful about quantities , lifting Ur litle ones now !
( I know its hard to resist their little upraised arms and especially when they dont understand at all .... ) I actually had that problem with my 8 lb Persian cat that greets me at the door and likes to be kissed and hugged and dandled and carried everywhere ... he was SOO OFFENDED LOL !!
he just kept BUGGING me ;) but I think he understood too that I felt ill ..he walked the floor with me every single step ... back and forth back and forth.... together we wore the parquet floor OUT lol !
They pump U full of fluids during surgery so U may have gained some waterweight from the IV and it takes a while to get rid of it ... also lightweights just plain lose SLOWER . But we GET there eventually especially if we help things along by exercising .
Another reason U have to be careful about lifting is internal hernias ..Ur stomach wall is very weak right now and U DONT want one of those . The are often misdiagnosed and are really pesky things to diagnose and treat properly ... and also painful.
welcome to the LW board and big hug ! were moving down on the losers bench 4 ya !![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/grouphuddle.gif)

I have been pretty careful about lifting the kids. My youngest is 1 and my oldest just turned 2 so sometimes it is easier said than done. I've only had to lift them a few times. Fortunately, my youngest is a petite little thing at 14 pounds. She's the one that I usually have to pick up the most often. I've had a lot of help with them since surgery though. I've been blessed to have family and friends around that are more than willing to help out. I think it helps that I have geniunely good kids. They are both super laid back and kind of roll with the punches. I have a friend who wants babies and every time she watches my two she says they make her want them more. I keep reminding her that not all kids are as good as my two. I will probably pay for it when they are older lol.
I ended up calling the surgeon's office because I'm having a lot of pain when I eat or drink. The surgeon suspects I may have marginal ulcers. He said I had ulcers during surgery, which I didn't know about, but that they were healing well and all ended up in my remnant stomach. He seems to think the pain in my remnant stomach may be from ulcers as well. So since I was only on Protonix for a month post-op he put me back on it along with Carafate. I have to go in the morning for an EGD. I'm a bit worried about being awake for it. In fact I'm freaked out about it.
I didn't even know you could get ulcers post-op. I don't eat acidic foods, dont' smoke and don't take NSAIDS. Yet, before surgery I took Motrin like it was candy for my fibro flare ups. I haven't taken any NSAIDS since February, but I wonder if they would still have an effect on my stomach.
I had to LOL about your cat. My cat is the same way. She is one of those cats that is always on me wherever I go. In fact she spends a lot of time sitting on my shoulder like a parrot when I walk around the house. Of course after surgery I couldn't hold her like that and you would think that I was torturing her by not holding her. She got over it after about 2 weeks and laid on me any chance she got. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a spoiled rotten fur baby!
