OT - Vacation from HELL!

Well, I didn't need to bother bringing protein bars and powders with me, I could have saved the strain on  shoulder from lugging my ginourmous heavy suitcase.

The first 6 days were GREAT, did lots of visiting with family and hiking with my cousin.  Day seven the GALL BLADDER ATTACK FROM HELL started and has not abated in 7 days.  Went to a Dr. here and like my Dr. at home said there is nothing they can do while it's so enflamed.  Just take my pain killers and if I get sick and tired of throwing up from taking them then switch to tylenol.

My travel insurance won't cover me for surgery here (Norway) since it's a pre-existing condition (my Dr. at home sent in a referral last month for me to meet with a surgeon to schedule removal surgery.)  I stupidly thought that since my attacks in the past (3) happened about 3 months apart and were very minor that I would be "safe" to travel and I took pain killers with me in case I had an attack.  Who would have known that it would be soooooooooooooo severe and go on for 7 freaking days so far!  Today is the first day that I have been able to actually sit up in a chair and get online.

And now this bloody volcano decides to erupt in Iceland and we're scheduled to fly into Iceland on Friday and stay there until Sunday then fly home to Canada.  I tried to change our tickets to fly straight home on friday with no stopover but of course the flight is fully booked (that's if it'll even be able to fly with this volcano erupting!)

So needless to say with the agony of this attack I haven't been able to eat anything solid in days, the only upside is I lost a few pounds.....

I am so sorry to hear you're going through this. How do their emergency rooms work. Can you go there and be treated? I hope you can get home ASAP.

Gina, unfortunately since my condition is deemed pre-existing my insurance won't cover me to go to the ER and I would end up paying out of pocket.  Mind you it would probably not be that expensive to pay for the surgery here as they have national health care and their Dr's don't gouge the system.

I paid less than 50 dollars CDN for a Dr's appointment and bloodwork here.

What a bummer.  to get all the way to Norway then have all these problems.  And you are right, gall bladders aren't fun.  Here is hoping you get home quickly and safely and can get that thing taken care of.

Swinging lizards for a quick return home and relief from the pain! I swear gall bladder pain is the worst! I'd rather be in labor then have that pain ever again.

Good Grief!  I'm SO sorry about your ordeal!

I've said it before and I'll say it again...."there is no pain like GALLBLADDER pain"!!  It's 10 times worse than natural childbirth!!!

I hope you get some relief soon.  After the gallbladder is removed, the relief will be instantaneous!  Hang in there!!
