I am thankful for the loss but sometimes I really wonder what my metabolic rate is. I am not going to be one of those who lose rapidly I am athinking. It is going down though and I have defintely lost a lot of inches.

Slow may be better, gives your skin time to adjust.
At least you are losing.

Jennifer, I can totally relate. Keep in mind though that you started at a lower weight than even most LWs so you can expect a slower loss.
I was tested for metabolic rate, and it was very low - probably due to all the yo-yoing from diets over the years. The only way that I know to address it is to eat high volume food (high fiber and nutrition, low sugar) and exercise to pump up the volume on my metabolism.
For example, I have decided to take the first week of July week off and create my own mini-boot camp . Instead of going to an expensive spa, I will see my trainer every day, swim, take a Zumba or bellydancing class, walk, and stretch every day . My goal is four- five hours of body movement per day for a week. I did this once before and it was like turning up the heat in the oven. Also, after the first day (I plan for a massage!), it feels great. I love the endorphin high. .

Thanks Amy for the advice and support! I am so thankful for what I have achieved so far and KNOW to not compare myself to others but I am nearing 3 months post surgery and am thinking I will maybe hit 25 pounds lost at that point. I know that my % is good though as the amount I am going to lose is not that large.
I have started jogging and am hoping this will help me. I am scared about maintenance and KNOW that exercise will be key for me. I have only been going to the gym 3X week and I know I need to get back to 4-5 days a week. Stamina has been an issue at times and nine hr work days dont help. I am VERY impressed with your planned week of work outs.....I don't know if I am that motivated!! I do know that I need to start doing more things at the gym including classes.
One thing that is validating is that I really understand why I couldnt do this before......between my emotional dependence on food and what must be a poor metabolic rate my body really struggled to maintain any weight loss. The psychologist told me that my body fights against me (metabolic syndrome) and this was validating as it wasnt "just me" who was responsible. I just find this whole thing fascinating.....even with lack of absorption of calories, the loss is slow. It is STILL a loss though! with no regain.
Thanks again for the support!! It means a lot!

Gail, Finding your perfect spot for maintainers can be tough. Keep working at it, you'll find it.
