Don't let this get you down. I'm in the same boat, I hate my job so much that I'm interviewing for another. Don't take it personally, it had nothing to do with you.

There is something else that happens when the economy is in the dumps, employers can do more than cherry pick , they also become indecisive and are looking to take advantage of people who may have even more experience than you do, but willing to work for less simply to join the world of the gainfully employed.

It's tough finding a job when people with more experience are sucking up a lot of the jobs that are more suitable for others. I'm sure it's not unheard of for senior level experts to take a mid level job just to cover the bills until they can find something better.

People have already said this, but as someone in HR it is definitely a tough market out there for job applicants. There are so many people looking for work that we get more qualified applicants than ever. Sometimes we'll end up with 4 or 5 people that would be fantastic for the job, and there really isn't any feedback that would help. Sometimes they live closer, sometimes they seemed like they might mesh more with certain aspects of the company, sometimes they smiled more, who knows? I'm sorry that it's so hard, though! You'll find something!
