Good Morning. What were some of your favorite mushies and soft foods?

I've got a couple of folks who are asking me about go-to mushies and soft foods. They're newbies, so there are several things to think about. Is chili too spicy or about right? I did fine with chili but it's something that the previous dietitian warned folks away from. The new dietitian took a poll of the support group and all of us did fine with tomato-based soft foods early out. What are/were some of your favorites?

My go to was scrambled eggs (since I had to use Egg Beaters, it was my only option for eggs), cottage cheese, and corned beef hash...yes, I know it has potatoes but when you aren't eating but a couple of spoonfuls, it's not as bad.

Heck, I still am eating all my mushies. Sometimes it is the only way I can get stuff in...

Chili- make my own so not too spicy
Greek yogurt
Refried beans with a tad of cheese and salsa
Eggs
Cottage Cheese
melted cheese sticks

Dang it and now my brain has farted out and I cant think.

Ditto for me on these foods. LOVED and still love refried beans. Do eggs every day ****ep chickens so they're tasty eggs). Sis also made me a cool mexican type soup with hamburger in it -can't remember the name though.

Hi There!!
I just found this "lightweights" forum.  This is awesome!!  I was wondering if there were any short stuffs like me who topped out around 200+, and had surgery!!  I am scheduled for Monday 5/23/11.  Getting a bit nervous.
I also  need some great ideas for soft foods, and actually even earlier foods to keep me full(or will I be?)
ANY suggestions are appreciated!!  I'm having RNY.

Thank you LOTS,
Carolyn D.

Hi Carolyn.  There are LOTS of us under 5' on here.  I am 4'11" and was 220 at my highest.  Don't worry about being full after surgery.  It won't be a real issue but may be a head problem.  Good luck on your surgery.  Be sure Gina has you on her list and let us know how you are doing.

Welcome, Carolyn...to the lightweights forum.

While I am a wee bit taller, 5'3 1/2", my sign in weight was 203 (I barely made the cut) but have been as high as 240 long time ago. Being short and fat is miserable.

We all understand how it feels to be a lightweight.

4'11" here and started at 203.  I'm 2 1/2 years out weigh around 112 (boy that sounds small).  You shouldn't be to hungry and the beginning.  If you are it might be head hunger.  If you normally take Prilosec or something similiar I wouldn't stop taking it because it really does help with the emptiness you might feel.
