It took time but...

Thanks.

I've been a full blown diabetic, officially since Dec. 15th, 1997. I say "officially" because the standards of diagnosing diabetes changed over the years. In 1991, I had a GTT, my fasting was 78 and that was how they diagnosed it back then was based on JUST the fasting. They now use the 2 hour postpradial, which in 1991 mine was 265. According to todays standards, I should have been a diabetic officially then, not 6 years later.

I will say that being diabetic helped me with being post op as my eating habits haven't changed, just the amount I eat.

Now this is what surgery is all about---it's nice to look great & wear smaller clothes----but medical successes are what is so important!  Thank you for posting this!

Thanks, Jenn...while this milestone is great, the day I took off my insulin pump was fifty times better.

Congratulations on being NORMAL ;)  This surgery is truly amazing and makes me understand why I did WLS in the first place.  To see such a health win like this shows how worthwhile it is.

Cheers from Karin (in Oz)

Wow Liz that's some great news! I too had a similar experience with my DS. I am one yr out and take zero meds! However I can get hypo if I take in too much sugars and my body thinks the old way and dumps insulin in great amounts! Just be careful and you will do fine ....take care.......Jeff
