I recommend going to a psychologist personally because they actually listen and hear what is going on. Once they head the whole story and perhaps do tests then they recommend medications. I hated psychiatrists whipping out their prescription pads without really listening.
It may take time but hopefully your hubby will get the go ahead for surgery.

Well my personal take on this is decide what you need and want beforehand figure out what theyre likely to find out and for goodness' sakes dont givethem too much information.

Sounds like dear Hubs went to a confessional lol !!

The problem with telling doc severything is Ure giving them a hundred reasons NOT do the surgery on YOU .. lol . Take the risk ... because thats all THEY hear ..potential malpractice suit if I pass this guy . ...

Can U go to someone else and say it was a personality conflict ? Talk to the administrator from that hospital and DEMAND to be reevaluated by someone else that U felt this guy was PERSONALLY antagonistic ...

and then tell Hubs to KEEP his gosh darn mouth SHUT as much as possible ? Minimizing everything or better yet not bringing it up at all unless asked ?

thats how i would handle it ....

heh heh...  I too believe that my business is my business and that I'm no more wacko than than the next guy so why stir the pot?  Good point about the malpractice suit triggers that they pick up on.  Poor things have to live in so much fear... hope they are on meds for it.  :-P

I have always sided on the my business is my business thing when it comes to almost anyone but especially Dr's unless its a need to know for safety.  Part of seeing the clinic I did was the plan to see a new psych---and not say a freaking peep except when asked.  Some times I think he has diarrhea of the mouth when he is nervous.  My first thought when he got the letter was that sucks (on so many levels) but my second was what the HECK did you say at those appointments?!  It's his destiny not mine--so I will encourage him to call another clinic and start fresh. Ugh.  Thanks all.

He may not have to change clinics. He should talk to them first and see if they are open to him getting an eval from a different doc.

Personally, I think some of these guys use the psych eval to drum up business for themselves!
