I've had so many surgeries, but each time I absolutely panic. I hate general anesthesia. It scares the crap out of me and I'm always so afraid I won't wake up. Arrgh!! I actually had a panic attack the other day after watching someone on tv being in the hospital. It's ridiculous!!

You wouldn't be the first person to get anti-anxiety meds to get through the 2-week freak. Hang tough and go see the doc for meds if you think you need to.

I'm sorry anxiety is getting to you. The chance of everything being fine is sooooooo much greater than something happening. And the drugs are soooooo much better. When I had my first abdominal surgery in '73, I didn't wake up for days. Now days, they have wonderful control over the meds and I don't worry at all. And we are all here to cheer you on.

I get the same way about anesthesia. But this time my anesthesiast was soooo wonderful that she casually talked me into sleep as she was doping me up, and I didn't even realize I was going.... going.....gone to lala land. Here's swining lizards you get the same treatment.

I totally relate - I hate all kinds of anesthesia but general puts me over the edge. I had to say to myself the week before the surgery that I was putting myself in the hands of an expert. It also helped me to meet with the anesthiologist. I have to say that it ended up being no big deal. In fact, I felt so rested when I finally woke up! I know though that only way around it is to get through it. You are going to be fine!!!
