Revision surgery date bk'd for May 24th
Hi guys,
I just thought I'd pop in to let you all know I go in on May 24th for my revision surgery. For those that don't know me I'm having a revision from VSG to RNY Bypass. This is not my first revision as I previously had a Lapband that failed. I'm happy with my VSG but I have a problem with pressure in the sleeve and it has given me horrific reflux, hernias and bleeding erosions. The doctor tells me it's not common but unfortunately for me I'm one of the minor percentage this has happened to. So the only fix for me is to revise to a bypass to lower the pressure in my little sleeved tummy.
Cheers from Karin in very cold Melbourne, Australia.

For me it has worked thus far. The main thing may be because I had most of my remnant stomach removed I think the part that produces grehelin is gone. I also get satisfied from smaller amounts of food so I don't eat as much. Before I didn't have much restriction and I always felt hungry.
I really didn't care at that point. I didn't want the revision because of the weight I had gained. I had problems and felt that a revision would help and it has. For that alone my quality of life has improved. The weight loss is an added bonus.

Wow - it sounds like you've been through a lot.
I know Dr's have told several on this board that their revision may not "work"... but if yours is primarily to get rid of the pain and reflux, then you're going to be a winner to begin with.
Since you're going from non-malabsorptive WLS to a malabsorptive RNY, I think it IS very possible that you will lose more. It may not be quick, but I do think it will happen.
Hoping that this will be your LAST surgery!

This board is very helpful and non-judgemental and is here if/when you need us.
You have been through a lot and I think you are very brave. I pray that RNY will stop the GI issues and bring you some healing and peace. (with hopeful added weight loss).
Blessings to you!!
