Trouble sleeping....anyone else?

I have experienced tossing and turning for 4 out of 7 nights over the past 3 weeks.  This is a new problem for me.  Of all my issues, sleep was never one of them.  It's not stress.  In the past I've slept great even when going through husband deploying, selling a home, sick children etc.

My theory is that my body is hungry.  I'm eating 800 to 1,000 calories a day (doctor perscribed), 70 to 100 grams of protien, low carb, low fat.  When I do finally get to sleep, around 3 a.m. I dream of food.  Does anyone else dream of food?  Usually I dream of eating a big piece of birthday cake, or real ice cream.

Last night I got up at 3am and had a small piece of low fat cheese (1/2 of a babybel), and 1/8 a cup of soy milk.  Tasted good, got to sleep, then woke up with GERT at 4am.  That is a first for me.

I made protein ice cream today from Eggfaces blog.  Planning to eat that before bed tonight, hoping to catch up on some lost ZZZZZZZ's.

Any ideas for sweet dreams for me tonight?  Anyone else experience this?

I'm 3 months post-op with a sleeve.

I do have restless nights but they are rare.  I have a protein drink or protein ice cream before bed every night.  I go to bed early and get up early, like between 9 and 10 and around 6 in the morning so I am getting plenty of rest.  I try to have all my liquids done before supper except the last protein drink so I only get up once around 3:30 to pee. I have a small pillow I use between my knees or under if I am on my back or tummy so there isn't so much stess on my joints.  Most of my bad nights are due to chronic pain from arthritus, not hunger.

Sweet dreams tonight.

I've had issues sleeping for several years now...so this is nothing new and for me has nothing to do with food, or lack of it.

I go to sleep fairly easily but wake up about 1-2AM and then it's close to 5 before I can drift back off to sleep.

I finally have downloaded some sleep apps and they seem to help some. At least when I wake up in the middle of the night, I can reset the app and usually go back to sleep fairly quickly.

My favorite "go to sleep" noise is a mixture of crickets, frogs, and a running stream set just at the edge of my hearing.

I have to sleep with a fan or 2 on every night or I will NOT be able to sleep at all.

Stacey, after sleeping with anywhere from one to three fans running every night, apparently I've reached the point that they don't even help.

However, sleeping without a fan just isn't gonna happen.

I'm going to ask you a few questions.

Are you drinking alcoholic beverages?  That will cause you to wake up and not be able to get back to sleep.

Have you introduced a new food into your diet that you haven't had before?  Spicey, etc?

Are you drinking and having to get up and go pee more than usual?

You may want to try and take 1/2 of a tylenol pm and see what that does for you.  I do that when I'm having problems consistently sleeping.  There was a period of time when I couldn't stay asleep and had to do it as a last resort.  Lately, even with all my life stresses, I'm sleeping like a baby.

DON'T take the whole pill.  I only do that if I don't have to get up in the morning... literally...

No alcohol here.  No need to pee either.  Nothing spicy or new that I can think of.  I do have a little coffee in the morning so I can use the ladies but never past 10am.

Funny no one had mentioned dreaming about food.  I guess I'm the only one.  My therapist thinks that dreaming about food, is a pleasurable response to the fact that eating is no longer pleasurable like it use to be.  Could be, but the dreams about food feel more desperate, secretative and not so pleasuarble.

Oh well.  Hope to catch up tonight.
