What to pack??
A back scratcher. Comes in handy for reaching things just out of your reach. Other than that the hospital provided everything I needed. I broke free the day after surgery so I didn't need much.

I packed toiletries, gown, robe, etc and never opened my bag until I was getting ready to be released to come home. I just used their stuff. Folks say to pack chapstick, gas strips, lotion and I did, but didn't get any of it out.
What I didn't pack was a pillow for the trip home. That would have been handy. Just leave it in the car.
Definately loose clothes because you aren't going to want anything tight against your tummy and it will probably be swollen to boot.

Pack lip balm, gas x, and a couple pair of underwear, and just wear loose clothes so you can wear them home. Also put a pillow in the car for the ride home. You might want your laptop or smartphone for email but that's about it.
I wasn't allowed my vitamins and I figured I could wait til I got home anyway. To be honest, I had a hard time getting even enough liquid in, much less anything else.

Ditto to everybody else's comments. Only to add that I was so busy sipping, walking and resting that there wasn't even time to READ, so not to worry! I ended up not even taking a shower there but I did wash my hair in the sink the morning I was being released. As far as clothes, I personally took a caftan to wear home, which was wonderfully comfortable, and a coat to wear over it (in February). Yep, the pillow was a good idea and helpful but I would have lived without it. Laporoscopic procedures are WAY different, thank goodness. Chapstick is a good thing. If you bring your computer (to post on OH) remember to put something between your tummy and it. I STILL have a little red mark because I couldn't really feel the heat! Pain control is a good thing. ROFL!
You're going to do GREAT! :-))

For me, all i brought was the clothes on my body.... I wore scrub bottoms and because I was so swollen, they were too snug on the ride home, when I got home I changed to DH's sweat pants.
Then I had my cell phone and chapstick and my hair brush. I used the toiletries, and did not even wear panties at all while I was there. Good Luck, I am swinging for you!

Slip on shoes or slippers would be a good idea.
Loose loose jogging pants and oversize colored tees. that way if you're not comfortable wearing a bra.
I'm also taking several isopure zero carb RTD's.
One for each day I"ll be there.
Pillow and throw if you want to get comfy on ride home.
I have a 10 hr trip one way.
If you have a long ride or flight make sure you walk around every couple hrs. to keep up circulation.
My dr requests us to bathe night before and morning of with hibaclenz.
That's all I can think of. Good Luck on your surgery! Take care .
