Our stats are almost exactly the same.  I started at 218, surgery at 208, 5'3" but had the RNY.  I got down to 121 and bounced back to about 129-131 now.

I too thought 140 would be good for me, but my body wanted to go lower and I'm SO glad I let it.  I needed the bounce back room, even though I'd love to get back to 125.  That's where I was happiest.

Hi there,

I started the process at 213#, and am just under 5' 4"... I normally would have focused on weighing 140# too, but decided to be aggressive with this "tool" as I can already sense fear with in me of regain.

My goal is 130, and was told at my 6 month check up that my ideal weight is 129. It sounds good to me! I also realize that I am definitely NOT done losing yet. Although I have slowed it down, I am willing to let my body go lower if it means I will eventually land at nice middle of my goal place.

Good luck in your journey. It is an amazing ride to be sure.

As a LW most of us have several fears no matter what our stats are...the first fear is that it won't work for us,  2nd..when we are in a stall that we are done and won't get to the goal we set for ourselves,  3rd... we don't want to go to low, and then when we get on maintenance and the fear of gaining it back or wishing we would have given ourselves enough bounce back room sets in and sticks with us.

My personal goal was 125 but I dropped down to 106 and it started to scare me because I was afraid I wouldn't stop losing so I started on maintenance and I have BIG regrets now.  My one regret is that 3 more pounds lost would have given me a golden apple for 100 pounds lost (I'm so jealous of those Gold Apples.....LOL).  My biggest regret is starting on maintenance to soon and not giving my body time to adjust to the low weight and having a natural bounce back.

Good Luck!!!

Roz

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Roz - LOVE how you've defined the "FEARS".   I've never really put it into perspective like that.

Since you are having the sleeve you won't have to worry about malabsorption.  That means that if you find yourself drifting too low you can up your calories to catch it.  With the sleeve it is more like dieting with the extra help of smaller food capacity and the lack of ghrelin to control the hunger.  Even if you can't eat a lot of food you can eat more calorie dense food like peanut butter and full fat dairy.

All the advice that was given is a 100% on. The VSG is a good tool, and don't worry about going to low.
I started with the same worries and at one point was down to 119. I am staying right at 125-128 and will be at 2 yrs in Jan.
