Good Morning. So, DH and I are having a stand-off
Boy is this a topic that hits home for everybody one way or another. We can't justify it here because our little house is so very small that it's not supposed to get dirty!! Is that ever a joke! *I* have to get the clutter and unfinished projects done and gone so I can approach the subject of having somebody else come and do dusting, bathrooms, & floors. That's it.
You are absolutely within your rights to bring in a licensed, insured, bonded company who can come when your son is home OR NOT! Nobody particularly LIKES having anybody in their home unsupervised, but we have to suck it up sometimes... what if the neighbor called and there was sudsy water coming out your laundry room door because the washer flooded over while everybody was at work? Would you wait until evening when you got home to call a plumber? Service oriented companies do this stuff all the time and they don't need you there in their way either. Let them do their job. :-)
Or tell hubby you'll schedule them to come on his day off.
rofl!

Totally bring it up again! I am also trying to get hubby to let me hire someone. I've already found a gal and she quoted me a VERY reasonable price. I was actually hoping to get her in here before surgery so it doesn't eat at me during recovery.
It should not be just up to you to clean. Everyone has a responsibility and if nobody wants to do it, something needs to be done! And a cleaning service is perfect!
We can do this the nice way or the hard way.

Go for it!!
for years we've had someone in twice a month. At first I was always home but it got to the point, where we scheduled stuff when she came because we knew she was okay. When I moved five years later, it was emotional for both of us.
Next house, we tried to find someone but was never as successful as our first one. We did get someone who came in and cleaned but it just wasn't like my first one. Now, we use a service who sends in a team. They are bonded and insured and we try to not be here when they come in. They do better without us underfoot.
We have done it ourselves but we prefer the time saved and it's so nice to come back home to a clean house that YOU didn't have to do.

Bring it up and don't give up till you get what you want!!! My DH just gave in to it 2x a month and it is worth it. We both work, have a 4.5 yr old and a cat and dog..did I mention my whole lower level is hardwood floors? I would have given up getting my nalis and toes done for this if I had too. It makes such a difference. Fight until you win, Gina. Good luck.
My rule when everyone was at home was that if you live here, you contribute. I found that issuing chores specifically to males works better than expecting them to "see" what needs doing.
Don has never minded pitching in. I hate to vac. I'm ok with mopping. Deal! He hates to START laundry, but is fine with folding. Deal! Kids did their specific duties, eventually had to do everything, which is fine now that they are adults. They can do it all.
However, when I realized I could not even mop all my floors in one day with the interruptions, I tried a coupla cleaning services. Getting me a coupla bucks for broken things doesn't replace them. One place sent me a different crew every week, so I couldn't train anyone to do stuff my way. And they'd change my day at their whim.
We bought a used car and just in chatting, that guy's wife cleaned houses. So, since 1999. When I first called her, she said, "I'm pregnant and will be having C section 8/6 and will stay home for 6 wks. Then I will bring my baby with me, nurse her before I clean and put her down after I clean the first bedroom. I do a 3 hour clean for $75." In all these years, I think she's missed maybe 5 days, aside from stopping to have the baby, who is now 11! She also doesn't make the bed exactly how I want it, but the sheets are good and tight! LOL
As her baby grew, my cat adored her and slept with her. She'd vac my room first, then leave a vac running in the room, and do the rest of the house. When she was aging out of naps, I had to take the cat out or they'd play instead of sleeping. Priscilla LOVED toddlers. Yes, as in Priscilla's corner. They are still special friends. LOL
Sometimes you fall into these things kinda backwards. But I wasn't happy with the agencies that I tried. You might luck out. But I'd certainly time them around SOMEONE being home for awhile. Even if that person is jus****ching TV or reading mail, ostensibly.
