Heavy heart

My heart is heavy. There have been huge cuts in our school system. RIF letters were given to 120Teacher/teacher assistance yesterday in our little school district of just 600 teachers. I did not get a letter but some others did.  Teachers are the building blocks for tomorrow not a scape goat for political manipulation. We were told this could just be the first round depending on what happens with the state budget. This goes right back to what I posted the other day about teachers being undervalued and under appreciated.

The stress in the work environment is incredible. I am battling this stress. This week I have come down with a sinus infection/upper respiratory. It's hard to concentrate on your job when you see those you love struggling to fight back the tears. People with 20+ years RIF like they never existed. They have given all these years to molding our kids...our future. It makes me question my job choice. I have to try to remember that FAITH survives all things and all understanding.

I never thought I would be to the point I wouldn't want to eat. I have lost 2 lbs this week. This after the doc told me not to lose anymore. Tonight I was 112 fully clothed at urgent care. No appetite. Between snot and stress.  It is literally hard to swallow all this. I was complaining about being walked on but at least I have a JOB.  Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring guess we have to do the best we can with TODAY!
Nothing tastes as good as this feels!

I'm really sorry!!!  I do understand.....Our school system is VERY small (we only have 1 primary school, 1 elementary school, 1 middle school, and 1 high school).....we have "lost" some teachers but it's only been through attrition (when one quits or retires--they are simply not replaced).  My school system had a huge reserve of money (which is almost gone now) so things haven't quite hit us AS hard....YET!

Things are really tough for all schools right now----I only pray it gets better, I'm kinda dreading next year---moral is really low, more kids in every class , no supplies, etc.  It's really a time for parents and teachers to pull together and we can weather this crisis!

Hang in there....hope you feel better and you'll get some cheer from GOD today that will let you know that everything will be ok!!!

Our state being broke really sucks and is making life so very difficult.  I am so sorry for the ones who lost jobs and for those of you left with no resources and more work.  I know it is coming my way also.  My staff keeps saying, at least we still have jobs but I wonder when they will start looking for something that isn't affected by all this.  But I guess that is part of it, everyone seems affected.  Mental Health is getting ready to make drastic changes which will affect our most delicate.
Oh, dear.  We just have to keep on but sometimes it is very hard.
I feel your pain.

School systems are being hit hard all over the country.  Same here.

I had 27 years and got RIF'd.  I'm lucky that I had a retirement option to fall back on, but not everyone did.  I feel very sorry for the ones left that don't know if they're going to have a job in a few months or not.

Take care of yourself.  You need your strength to get through this.

I feel very sorry for anyone that is losing a job and how these job loses affect everyone.  I can not imagine not having my job right now.  We have so many positions in our society that are so important from working with kids to working with elderly or disabled or unserved / forgotten populations.  I have no political opinion or agenda  (I hate politics actually)----but we can not continue to spend money in this country like we are growing it in some off site orchard.  We can not keep putting our states, our government in these huge holes many of which are so deep we can barely see the light from the bottom looking up.  It means huge sacrifices and heartbreak for everyone.  I work in the state government here and I KNOW the cuts to our programs, the more efficient systems that have been put in place hurt people---especially those who have contracted and made gainful leaps forward- that will not be the case now.  Our state has not given increases to its employees in years- they have cut benefits, put on hiring freezes, etc.  Its all around difficult.  I would say your heavy heart is understood by many, many people...and what you can do is try to continue to function in your essential role as well as possible and move forward, help support others the best you can (contribute to food banks, shelters, needy programs if you are able).  It wasn't all that long ago I was at a food pantry---wondering how I got there...but I did.  I sure how physically you feel better soon.  Hugs!
