Good Morning. Technologically Challenged
I'll call myself a "user" now. Don't give me a DVD, Wii, or other TV game, but a computer - yes. I set the wireless systems up in 3 households now. I bought my DD a wireless printer for Christmas and part of the present was getting it all set up for her. I did it at Toms, in addition to taking the internet and get it working. Him and his daughter act stupid and I'm the only one that knows how to reboot it - really? But, I use it to my advantage - hehe..
I have a Blackberry Bold for work and absolutely love it. I have a Droid but don't like it nearly as much. I have to give my Blackberry back at the end of May and will miss it - and when I get a new phone will seriously think about moving over to that. I like some of the apps the Droid has, but found I really don't use many of them that I've downloaded. I'm sure the blackberry can do a lot of the same things.
I do get lost with some of the new gadgets - some of it I've just given up on trying to learn or figure out.

It's a buzzword.
People use that term to refer to all the services at are accessible via the Internet. Since they are all owned by different people and are loosely (or not at all) linked, people call it "the cloud" when they talk about it in order to communicate that it's somewhat amorphous and ever changing. (I.E., today a web site might be there but tomorrow it isn't or had different features.)
But they could just say "the internet" and it would be just as accurate and 10x more understandable.

I am eligible for a new cell phone, but everytime I go on line and look at them I get so confused and have no idea what to get. I kind of want one that I can check my email and someone today said some can be used as eReaders instead of getting a Kindle or Nook. I wonder if the screen would be too small to read the book?? I usually get my sister to help me with my choice on cell phones because she loves to research and study all that kind of stuff.
I am better than my DD, she doesn't even have a computer at home and does not have a facebook page!!
We don't have a DVD player hooked up to our TV in the living room, but we do have DVR on our satellite and I love it. I'm always pressing the wrong button and doing something wrong!!

I also am adding "apps" right and left to my iPhone. I love the GPS, as it locates where you are now, and it can act like google maps or mapquest and give you directions. I use Runkeeper to track my walks and runs outdoors.
I could go on and on, but I love my iPhone, and it's easy to use. Now I couldn't set it up, but I use DH and the techno geeks at work to help me out there.

The geek at work, did add my work e-mail to my iPhone today. You know you're getting old, when you can't read the stuff on your phone anyway because the print is too small. Forget about trying to read anything from OH on the phone. It's microscopic.
THE BASIC RULES FOR CLOTHESLINES: (if you don't know what clotheslines are, better skip this)
1. You had to wash the clothesline before hanging any clothes - walk the entire lengths of each line with a damp cloth around the lines.
2. You had to hang the clothes in a certain order, and always hang "whites" with "whites," and hang them first.
3. You never hung a shirt by the shoulders - always by the tail! What would the neighbors think?
4. Wash day on a Monday! - Never hang clothes on the weekend or Sunday for Heaven's sake!
5. Hang the sheets and towels on the outside lines so you could hide your "unmentionables" in the middle (or put them in a pillow case)
6. It didn't matter if it was subzero weather - Clothes would "freeze-dry".
7. Always gather the clothes pins when taking down dry clothes! Pins left on the lines were "tacky!"
8. If you were efficient, you would line the clothes up so that each item did not need two clothes pins, but shared one of the clothes pins with the next washed item.
9. Clothes off the line before dinner time; neatly folded in the clothes basket, and ready to be ironed.
10. IRONED?! On Tuesday - Well, that's a whole other subject!
A POEM
A clothesline was a news forecast
To neighbors passing by,
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.
It also was a friendly link
For neighbors always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.
For then you'd see the "fancy sheets"
And towels upon the line;
You'd see the "company table cloths"
With intricate designs.
The line announced a baby's birth
From folks who lived inside -
As brand new infant clothes were hung,
So carefully with pride.
The ages of the children could
So readily be known.
By watching how the sizes changed,
You'd know how much they'd grown!
It also told when illness struck,
As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,
Haphazardly were strung.
It also said, "Gone on vacation now"
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, "We're back!" when full lines sagged
With not an inch to spare!
New folks in town were scorned upon
If wash was dingy and gray.
As neighbors carefully raised their brows,
And looked the other way.
But clotheslines now are of the past,
For dryers make work much less.
Now what goes on inside a home
Is anybody's guess!
I really miss that way of life.
It was a friendly sign.
When neighbors knew each other best
By what hung on the line.
