My first illness since my wls.....blahhhh

Warning -   TMI involved  lol

I woke up Sunday feeling fine.  We had a yard sale in the morning then the afternoon was spent doing Mother Day celebrations.  Towards evening, I started feeling blah...... slight fever, chills, headache, etc then the stomach started.  Upset stomach..... the kind you run and get a bucket cause you just know what's going to happen.  Well, it didnt happen.  I couldnt vomit.  I would dry heave over and over again.  It lasted thru out Sunday night, all day Monday.  Pre wls, I hated vomiting.  Now I hate the fact that I can no longer vomit.  The dry heaving lets your gut feeling like you did 2000 crunches.  I lost 9 lbs since Sunday.  Working on re hydrating myself.  Still dont have much of an appetite.  Feeling somewhat better, Still not at 100% though.

So Im curious now...... did anyone else loose their ability to vomit after wls?   Cindy

Glad you're feeling better. Dang those flu bugs!  I got sick from pain meds after my hysti and wisdom tooth extraction...it was different but I still have the skill. lol

You said 9 pounds lost, thank goodness you're rehydrating.

YES! I have lost the power to vomit, all I can ever get out is some spit type stuff.

I pray you feel better really soon, I know it is not the greatest feeling.

Keep the fluids in hand you definately need it.

Sorry to hear you're sick. That's first time I heard of someone not being able to vomit.
Take care and get those fluids in. They say the orange flavor Gatorade or Powerade is easier on cancer patients to hold down. Might help settle your stomach, even though you're not having trouble upchucking.

Now that you mentioned it, the last time I got sick I only dry heaved too....strange.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

So sorry you have been sick.  I haven't needed to vomit so don't know if I can or not.  Interesting.  It isn't something I ever wanted to do, but I have also never, not been able to.
