First visit to doc after surgery

It's been 3 months since my VSG and I've started getting compliments. Only a few people know about my surgery including my friends on this board.

But, today I had an exam with my primary care provider. I like her and trust her, but wasn't sure how she would respond. At the end of the encounter, she said "you look great. How have you lost the weight? Diet and exercise?" She knows I do triathlons in the summer. I said that I didn't want to be judged, but that I went to Mexico. I didn't even finsh the sentence before she said "good for you, did you get the sleeve?" Then she told me to call her any time I needed labs or prescriptions or anything else. What a relief!!!!

My husband qualifies under our insurance plan, but his primary care provider won't write a referral . . ."doesn't believe in surgery . . ."

I'm glad my doc is so supportive. Just had to share.

Cool!! I actually had the same visit with my PCP on Monday! :) (She didn't know what the sleeve was, though.)

That's great about your visit.

Has your husband considered changing pcp's to someone else? If I were him, and needed/wanted wls, I'd be finding me a new pcp ASAP.

He really likes his PCP, but he does have a referral and is going to the first class tomorrow. His PCP won't be the one who follows him afterwards. Thank goodness I have friends in high places.

Good for him for pursuing it. It helps when both have had surgery, esp if you are empty nester's and don't have to cook for kids.

Good luck to him.

Excellent! You're doing great!

Please share you pcp's name. I have a friend in the Reston area that has a DS and needs a pcp to order her labs. Thanks.

It is wonderful to feel that support.  My PCP has been great, although I didn't tell her from the beginning and it was my idea, not hers.  But she has really done some homework and staying up to date with what is happening with me.  That is important.

Wow-  that's great!

I 2nd that your hubby get a different PCP.  I'm glad I didn't have to have a PCP referral, I went 100% through my surgeons office.  My PCP was on board though and helped me get all my tests and procedures ordered to have my surgery though.  That was nice since I had my surgery in VA and I live in MI....
