Drove from new Mexico to Phoenix last night to have my band this morning. They are keeping me overnight and we will leave for home on Sunday and work on Monday...at least half a day. Have already been up to walk a few times too.
So, I left me packet at home...can anyone tell me what I can have to eat? Can I mix protien powder with soy milk or non fat milk?
I'm very excited about this new chapter in my life!

Congratulations! Many of us find we're lactose intolerant at first, so you may want to mix your protein with low carb soy milk or Lactaid milk at first. Experiment with some protein powder samples until you find what you like, your taste buds may have changed. Welcome to the losers bench!

Welcome to the loser's bench.  Everyone's plan is different bu****er and protein are what is important right now, with fluids being the most important.  Working a half day on Monday is quite ambious, good luck (but I had RNY, not a band).

Welcome to the loser's bench.

I found out I was lactose intolerant following surgery which was hard on the "whole milk" gal!!! What has helped is the lactaid pills I take daily. I also drink lactaid milk, can't drink soy as it messes with my thyroid mediction.

Work on Monday?  Really?  Already?  I do hope you're up to it... the drive in itself will be exhausting..

I love my milk products but get a little sensitive if I drink a big glass of milk, but I had RNY so sugar isn't my friend.  Not sure what you can/can't have - but I'd think it would be similar to the VSG?   I'd think you can mix it with whatever you can tolerlate.... I use water for some of mine.

Congratulations!!

I was allowed to have full liquids on day 5 after surgery.  I had what I thought was great protein powder but it turned out that it wasn't lactose free.  Some of the protein powders have digestive enzymes or no lactose.  I had terrible runs until someone here told me it might be lactose intolerance.  I switched to Muscle Milk Light and that worked great until I was able to digest things more easily.  I still use either Trader Joe's Unsweetened organic Soy Milk, or light Almond Breeze with only 2 carbs per cup.   I can now tolerate other dairy like cheese, cream, half and half etc, but I haven't done regular milk as I gave that up when I went Vegan the first time in 1990.

Play around with things and see what you can tolerate.

I'm not sure about the Band because I have a Sleeve.  I know my Kaiser does that band as an outpatient procedure and you go home a few hours later.   I think I could have gone back to work on day 5 but waited until day 7.

Congratulations!!  Hope you're feeling well.  I took two weeks off after my band, and was pretty tired when I went back at week 3.  Going back tomorrow is very impressive.  But don't push yourself too hard.  Make sure you rest up and follow all the rules.  Good luck!!

welcome to the loser's bench Redhedgrl!
Take it easy, sweetie, and call your surgeon first thing to find out what you can eat. (We all can offer advice, but you have to decide whether or not to follow YOUR surgeon's guidance).
