Sleevers, please give me feedback
The weight loss does slow down, the further out that one gets. I lost about 27 lbs in the first 6 weeks, but I had complications and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. I was eating very little during that time and weight loss was accelerated during that time period. After that, I averaged about 6-7 lbs/month, but I had less weight to lose, so I was happy with that. In January, I lost only 4 lbs the entire month, and at time, I increased my cardio. Feb., I lost about 8 lbs, but my thyroid medication was also increased and my exercise increased. March I lost 2 lbs, April about 4 lbs. Now, I am just starting maintenance.
I didn't start exercising to any strong degree until December. The first 3 months, I was ill and was also dealing with iron deficiency anemia. I was walking at lunch time, but no strong exercise until December. I started working with a trainer twice/week and started a Pilates class, plus I walked at lunch. Weight training has been great!! I am so much stronger.
Everyone loses at a different rate. I am also vertically challenged at 4'11" so I think we may have a more challenging time trying to lose weight. I am also 57 years young.
I kept my calories between 600-800, with gradual increases each month. In March, the dietitian told me not to go below 800 cal/day, so I stayed between 800-850 for awhile. I also limited my carbs to 40-50 per day. I eat Greek yogurt and have a skinny latte almost everyday, and the rest of my carbs come from 1/4 cup fruit/day and some veggies. No bread, cereal, potatoes, etc. All of my totals have been increasing the past couple of weeks, since I am entering the maintenance phase.
You are doing great. Be happy!!!!!

Your weight loss has been Great!!! It does slow down, but as long as it is going down, be happy. Losing inches is great. Even with a slow weight loss, you are still losing inches. All that exercise is helping to trim the inches off, increase your heart strength, and developing a healthy lifestyle change that you need for the rest of your life.

It looks like you are doing really well. But remember we are all different. You should always pat yourself on the back. You made a difficult decision to have surgery and you are doing everything you can to succeed. Some of our results are based on our changing bodies and the luck of the draw with metabolism, not just our food and exercise.
My loss has slowed to 1-1.5 pounds a week after only 5 months. I do the math to get to goal and I get discouraged. THEN I remember I will be eating like this for the rest of my life. My body will decide to some degree. I am 65 next month, so overall, I am happy with my progress. I want to get to a normal BMI, and my goal is the highest weight in that range.
You are losing and that is great, the speed isn't as important as you think it is right now. We are marathoners, not sprinters. Keep up the good work.

My surgeon pushes people to lose 50% of their EW by 3 months out and 80% by 6 months out and 100% by one year. This is counting from day of surgery. This is everyone, not just lightweights, though for the really super SMO, he knows it's going to take longer. Without doing the full math, it looks like you are pretty much on track for that, depending on what your final goal weight is.

I put your numbers in and looks like you are right on track. When I think I am going really slow, I check the chart again and feel better.
I dropped my carbs after Jan when I lost only 4 lbs. Since then I have been loosing better but I also don't miss them and eat pretty much what I want.
