Good Morning. Well, retirement was nice..

..but I'll be going back to real work in a little over a month. I have had it "made in the shade" for the paste 4 years...getting paid for what's in my head and running my mouth, only being 5 minutes from the office and having the freedom to get out and walk around the lake sometimes 8 times a day. And, I got good money for it!
Turning the page...back in my DH's carpool, 45 minutes to an hour commute going and coming, 10 hours in the office, stressful dinner prep, early bedtime and mad scrabble to get us out the door in the morning.  lol You'd think I was 30 years old again.
One good thing may be that Son#2 will be back in the house to keep things going and the dogs pottied and entertained. We're going to have to have a long talk with that boy. ILO rent he's going to have to help with keeping the dishes loaded in the dish washer, help keep his clutter under control and pay attention to the dogs.
Retirement really was nice and I needed it leading up to my WLS and these 3 1/2 years after. I've been able to do this WLS right and have reaped the rewards in so many ways. I'm healthier, I don't have pain and I'm happier and have more self confidence. Except for looking older than I did at 40-something, I'm at my fighting weight. People will recognize me at the new location and I'll be in a job that isn't an ego problem. Yeah, I have a typical officer's ego.  Anyway, I guess I'm giving fair warning that I may not be on the board a lot less this summer and beyond. Already thinking about a new lap top that would allow me to post during the commutes to and from work. I have my priorities, you know?

Sorry this was so long this morning...just a lot on my mind. Thanks for reading.

Y'all have a wonderful Friday and an awesome weekend.

Darn   All those things you mentioned are really nice at any age.  I would have a hard time going back to office work these days but if that was the way I still had a job, I guess I would find a way to be happy with it.
Think positive, get out the crockpot and find some clothes that don't need to be ironed.  I know you can do it.  Remember all those easy snacks and meals we tell newbees about.  You will do fine.
And do get a laptop.  Got to have something to keep you occupied during those commutes.

I hope the job is what you want.  If you are happy in the role, it will make all the changes worth it.  It may be tough to adjust.

I'll miss you on here especially in the morning.  One early bird to another.

Happy Friday!

Gina - hugs to you hun!

Job changes at our age aren't easy, but doable.  I understand the hour commute.  When I lived there mine was 15 minutes and before I moved in with Tom was 5.. now its 45 minutes and ANY job I'm looking at is going to be 45-60 minutes no matter which direction I go.

Go get a netbook - I have one I used primarily just for travel.  I downloaded an app to my Droid (also AT&T has it) called PDAnet. You download PDAnet to your laptop and uses your phone for your wireless data connetion. Google it on how to set it up - works like a charm.  After like 5 times using it it wants you to pay I think like $15 - but that's a one time fee... well worth it!

I'm still sending in resumes and applying for jobs - only one has given me the courtesy to let me know they've received my resume.  I'm finding this job hunting is a lot like dating  - contact people and never hear back from them... LOL

I think I'll check into a new phone and netbook as soon as my current contract is up. Should be soon. Thanks for the ideas.

Hope you get a laptop! I look forward to my cup of coffee and your post every morning! (Even when I am in a no posting mode of mind)

Sorry you have to change jobs, but I hope it turns out more positive than you are anticipating!

Have a fantastic friday!

JOb hunting over the last 18 months have been the most degrading, inpersonal, humiliating experience I ever had. The insulting BS of HR workers is like a special class of people akin to used car salesmen. As an older worker they don't want to pay you what you are used to. I have accepted a federal position at 2/3 of my last salery, but I don't care at this point. I am happy to have a job. I have to move to Ft Drum which is 2 hours away, but I would have had to move no matter where I got a job because where I live now has nothing here. Lucky in some strange way we have always rented. I want to buy a house, but Ft. Drum area...I don't think so.  Hopefully, I will be able to promote and transfer in a short time.
