November 2010, I had a hysterectomy -- gained 15 pounds -- lost it and 9 more pounds.  Ended up 9 pound down.  Sorry to say I have gained those 9 pounds back.

Funny you had a Hystorectomy. I will be having that too soon. open surgery and I am horrified but now that I kinda know what to expect I feel a little better. I really miss exercise. it was a routine and I feel kinda lost or like I am cheating by not doing it.

Hang in there, those steroids will make you retain water. Dont blame you for feeling frustrated!
Just remember this is temporary, and it will come off.

Thanks. I am hanging, lol. The numbers did come back down but still not where I was. I am still up by 5, but I will stay hopeful.

If you were hooked up to ivs for a day, you probably gained at least 10 pounds of fluid from that alone. Since it's just excess fluid that you'll pee out over the next few days, you haven't really stunted your *fat* loss at all.

I went into the hospital in February for an Illiostomy reversal and was there for a week.   I had the steroids during my surgery but none during my weeklong hospital stay.   I also was on fluids for 3 days and then soft foods until 1 day before I came home, so very little foods and calories went in me for the entire week.  Well, when I got home after the week, I gained 20 pounds.  I didn't think that was possible but if you looked at how swollen my feet, ankles and calves were, you would have believed it.  It took 6 weeks until I lost the weight and I could wear shoes again.  It was terrible.
