Good Morning. I think my puter is broke

The RAM is running constantly at 75-76% but CPU usage is fine and running low % when it's not working hard. Maybe I have a virus. Some programs are running a little slow or are slow to come up. {sigh} not sure what's wrong or how to fix it. Any advice from you guys that are awesome geeks? Norton seems to run on schedule and is only catching cookies. So, I dunno what to try. I think I'll reboot in a bit and come back to see if anything has changed. Must be time to do a total backup of my files and do some Spring cleaning.

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday. Oh, got to hug the boss yesterday. Remember I was telling you how rough it's been on him when he had to lay off so many folks to keep the business afloat? He said he really really needed the hug. As he was leaving he told me to keep up the good work, we'll make it.

Sorry about your computer.  All that you mentioned was greek to me.  I have a great computer man that keeps me up and going because most of my business life is on this machine.  I do know that I can't use Norton because it shuts down a lot of my operations.

Busy day here.  I have a client this morning then hopefully will have some time with the ponies.  Yesterday I did work and farm work instead of play but it will pay off to have nicer pastures for the summer.  Previously, I have been able to hire some young guys who needed work to do some of the labor but can't find any that want to work this year.  Pretty sad with everyone looking for jobs that our young, strong 20 yr olds don't want to work.  At least I am capable this year of doing most of it myself.

Sorry about the puter. Try finding a free maleware software and trojan software. I had problems in the past and Dell had me do those things first.  Not real savvy when it comes to such matters. Good luck!

Glad you made your boss feel lil better. It must be very hard to have to do such things.

I need to go to the laundry mat, my dryer broke over a week ago and the new one hasnt been delivered yet. Hopefully get some housework done. Been off schedule since my son and his family moved back on thursday. Its so great to see the grands!!

Happy wednesday!

Morning Gina,  I can't believe I'm up and on the computer this early!!

I'm not a computer person, but when my laptop starts running slow and loading slow, I bring it up in safe mode, let it load and then restart it normally.  I don't really know if that does anything, but it seems to run a little faster after that.  Do you have a virus program?  I use Norton, but there is a Windows one that is free that we use at work.  Hope you get it fixed.  I'd be lost without mine.

Glad your boss sounded hopeful. I'm sure he appreciates your support.

Have a great day.

Hi Gina,  I think this is the malware that my IT guys but on my work computer and then on my new Dell laptop at home.  It updates automatically, then I just have to remember to do a scan once a week or so.

Tonight is the 8th birthday party of my Kaiser Richmond Bariatric department so our support group is going to be a birthday party.  No cake.  :)

I've had a really full schedule lately and it won't settle down until into May.  I feel like I have something every night after work these days.

Ugh, I hate computer problems.  If rebooting doesn't fix it, I'm at a loss.  If it gets real bad I have a computer guy that's great, but he doesn't come cheap.

I'm taking my mom today for cataract surgery on one of her eyes (second eye will be done later).  It feels weird to not be at work.

Well, good luck to you.

Gina,

Are you running Windows OS? If so, what version?  Have you checked out the task manager to see what programs are currently chugging along in the background?

If you can still get to the internet Microsoft Security Essentials is a good free malware.  Otherwise call the Geek Squad!

Good day today....just trying not to get nervous for next week.

There is FREE help online better than the "geek squad" ever will be. All they will want to do is reformat your computer rather than fix it.

Start with what Jody suggested, then go to Tech Support Guy to their security forum and read the posted preamble. Then after doing the basics, if you still have issues, sign into the forum and ask for help.

1) Tech Support Guy has been around helping others for over 15 years now, mentioned in PCMag top 100 which is how I found it 10 years ago.

2) Their security members are members of ASAP (Alliance of Security Professionals) and so is the site. Btw, I am also a member of ASAP but have been out of the security aspect of fixing computers since 2005.

3) It's free. Donations are accepted but not required.

4) Norton does not catch as much as you think.
