I am nearly 2 years out, and my "size" has not changed much.  I take pictures of me in mostly skin so I can see changes in me, since I do work out and a lot of my weight lifting is geared to give my extra skin a nice form to drape over :}

But I have found that I *really* am encouraged by getting hydrostatically weighed!  I am the same "size" pantswise as I was 6 months ago, one favorite britches have been a little tighter in the thighs, so I was thinking I definitely have gained muscle, but my breasts are a little more breasty than they were in the past, I was thinking, so I thought I probably have gained muscle and a fat percentage or two.

Anyway - this weekend was my annual Spring Fling - aka - day, possibly 2 of eating pure D crap with no limits.  :}  Sooo, I knew that my "dry weight" was going to be up more than it would have if the test had been schedule for before Spring Fling, but I do not make the schedule for when the guy shows up on this side of town, so that is that.

But!  I am pleased with the numbers!  Here they are!

Weight

This year (04/19/2011) 156

Last year (10/19/2010) 151.25

Body Fat

This year 16.7%, 26.1 pounds fat

Last year 19.7%, 29.75 pounds fat

Lean Body Mass

This year 129.9 pounds lean

Last year 121.45 pounds lean

CONCLUSIONS!!

Gained 4.75 pounds of dry weight

Gained 8.45 pounds of lean

Lost 3.65 pounds of fat

In 6 months,  just doing my regularly scheduled eating and exercise.

 Whoot!

I wishwishwish I had had this done before surgery and when I called goal!  Ah well.

I get this done with these folks bodyfattest.com

It certainly helps me to have a more "realistic" view of what a goal weight ought to be, if I was still trying to be in the middle of "normal" then that would be 133 pounds, which probably I could not get to, and most definitely my body might fight me tooth and nail to be at!

I am 0.1 under OVERWEIGHT by the BMI - so can you see, it definitely works as a gauge for a while, but depending on your COMPOSITION - it can be setting you up to think you are less healthy than you think!

Thanks Gina!

I am also soon to report on whether my experiement with additional HCL and digestive supplements help my body to break down the dense protein and use it better!

I've heard of those test being done at university medical centers but I don't think we have any around here.  I think as I have lost fat, I have lost muscle also, eventhough I have continued to exercise.  Hummm.

You are doing great.  How wonderful to know you are putting on muscle.

Losing muscle is something that just happens on a very low calorie diet!  You know, like hair loss :} I know I lost muscle, I just did cardio until I called goal at a size, and then worked on filling up my extra skin with something nice for it to drape on. :}

Being in an exercise habit will serve you well!  And its always good to have muscle, whoever you are!

That's really interesting.  Where did you have it done at?  Do they come around to your area or do you have to go to a hospital?

I'm pretty sure I've lost a lot of muscle because I'm so much weaker now.

Congratulations on the great job you have done!!

Linda, the gym I go to is the local hospital's wellness center, so folks get rehab stuff done during the day, so its part of a hospital, but the guy comes to this area and does some of the gyms around here too.  He is in a mobile dunking truck!

also, if you cant find a dunker thing, the bodpod is supposed to be able to tell you the same stuff!

Thanks very much!

I had my body composition analyzed in a bod pod last month.  I'm so glad I did as it answered some of my health concerns (I've stopped menstruating.)

I reached my goal weight doing primarily cardio and then started doing resistance exercises with an exercise ball and light weights and have built up a lot of muscle definition but I was killing myself trying to lose that last 5 lbs to give me a buffer zone for bounce back.

Weeeeeeeeelll it turns out that I only HAD 5.6 lbs of body fat left so there was NO way I could lose another 5 lbs.  My lean body mass was 114 which gave me a fat% of 4.7 which is way too low for a woman.

I've since decreased my exercise a little and started eating more calories and have gained about 4 lbs, which I KNOW I needed to but totally freaks me out.  I know it's not fat as my clothes fit me the same if not even a bit looser but it's still suck a mind f%#$ to gain weight at this point.

Congrats!

Sounds like you are really getting in great shape! I know your back looks amazing, as I am sure the rest of you.

Just curious though, what is dry weight? Like bone density?
