ok.....what do YOU do instead of stress eating?
Boy...I'm really sorry about your taxes. I hope you figured it out or got an extention.
That book sounds like it might be worth a million bucks....LOL
Learning to use our tool and then maintaining is all a learning process and I don't think it's something we can do on our own. I feel so blessed to have my LW's who understand what we are going through and always close by to help!!! I'm so glad you turned to LW board for help. I wonder all of the time how people are successful without a wonderful support system.

I'm trying to call right now to get an extention but i've been on hold for quite some time, I might be on hold almost all day since today is the last day! LOL. I agree, the book sounds great! This last week I have been through a whirlwind I feel like and I'm so thankful for the board especially right now.
Hi Rebecca! I have always had a problem with prayer and meditation...my mind wouldn't calm down enough and shut up so I could relax. So my therapist recommended Progressive Relaxation. You just pop in the cd and lie back. It instructs you on your breathing and how to tense and relax all the muscles in your body. When I do it...I end up feeling like a wet noodle!! Totally relaxed and the stress is gone!
It really is amazing and I need to make time to do it everyday.
The cd my therapist recommends is "Progressive Relaxation and Autogenic Training" by Carolyn McManus.
Another book that I love is The Ultimate Stress Relief Plan for Women "So Stressed" by Stephanie McClellan and Beth Hamilton
Using these 2 things along with my therapist has turned me into a relaxed, patient version of the me from 2 years ago. It just takes alot of work and putting aside the time to take care of yourself. You can do it! You deserve it!!

Similiar situation happened to us this year..1200 we owe..I was expecting twice that back, thats enough to make you mad! So we ended up doing an extension because a payment plans cost 150$, what a joke..so anyway, I totally feel ya! To answer your question though, I usually drink (water) when I find myself wanting to stress eat..by the time I get done with the glass I am too full to consider eating anything and the urge is gone..
That CD mentioned is great... "Progressive Relaxation..." I used to plug it in before I went to bed, as well as during the middle of the day if I needed it... would put me right to sleep and I'd wake up doing SO much better.
Nowadays though... I hop on my quad and go for a very long, very fast ride!
Hope you got through to them for your extension!

Rebecca, I am sorry that your day went badly. I hope that you were able to work something out with the IRS. You received many great suggestions. It is concerning that your parents keep bringing junk into the house. That would be very difficult and stressful, at least for me, it would be. I don't bring certain things into the house, but if I had people who did, weight loss would be even more challenging. (((HUGS))).
Exercise is a great stress reliever, but since your activity is limited, progressive relaxation would be a good alternative. I always had a difficult time quieting my mind for meditation, but people say that it does take practice.

I know just how you feel!
I am a full-time student and recently had to quit my job. I have $162.38 in my bank account, and that has to last me until August (no joke). I am also in the last three weeks of my four-year nursing program. Girl, I KNOW what stress is like! Fortunately, I am so poor that I cannot AFFORD to eat more than a very small, cheap meal three times per day. Hopefully, I'll lose weight on this new "poverty-diet!"
