I'm NOT loving it....

Thanks!  It seems when I color it, the color would go lighter within days... and I thought it was because the ends were colored too much and the new color just wouldn't "take".  When I put on the color I use, its a little darker for a few days, then goes quite a bit lighter again.  In the summer it does too, of course.

I have the Champagne Blonde in the cupboard but now wondering if I should go maybe an ash blonde this time... to see if it lightens up still.

I am fairly gray at the front and I use an ash.  Works well for me.  Good luck and post pictures please.

Jody, go with what makes  you comfortable..it sounds like the blond may be the answer.   If you need a little lift in the roots get a body wave not a perm.  I get body waves about every 6-8 months to add volume to my hair. I love it especially this time of year as it allows me to wear my hair wavy or I blow it out if I have the time.

Good luck!  with the hair and looking for a job.

Sheri - yes I usually get a body perm but my hair takes a perm so well it still comes out really curly!  Right now its way too short and texturied a LOT, which is ok... keeps the perm out and the damage quotent down.

This is the first time in probably 20 years I haven't had either a perm or color in my hair!  So I guess its good I get to start over again!

Jody,
Congrats on making the decision about the early out. Finding another position can be exciting. A new challenge.

Hair color.... my stylist told me that as we age, we should have lighter hair, not darker.  Has to do with skin pigmentation, and I don't exactly remember what she said. Maybe your stylist can shed light on that subject. Pun intended.   I have dark brown hair and my stylist puts in multiple shades of red blonde highlights.  The highlights cover the grey well, and give me a stylish look similar to the young chicks (mostly moderate to conservative personnel in tastes and attire) in the office.

Good luck on all these life change decisions.  So much fun if you can get past the worries.

Thanks Tracey!  The color I use, and maybe its because of the different hi and low lights in my natural color, that I have several different colors seem to be in my hair...

I'm tending to agree with everyone to go with the blonde.  The pic I have as my profile pic is the only one I have with the grey - I may take another one.  Its amazing how different lighting situations can make it seem more gray or less gray...

Hi Jody!

Gonna do the honest opinion thng too :)

I love the short cut...it is VERY flattering!!

I would skip the perms...they are outdated and instantly add age to anyone. I have fine hair and I use root lifter and also use a hair thickening serum to the middle of the hair down to the ends. I blowdry with my head upside down until it is mostly dry and then finish drying with a round brush.

I think the grey is a sassy color. Again...the ash blonde, IMHO I think it washes most people out and it's outdated. A light brown with honey highlights would look gorgeous!! Take a chance with the color...you can always change it :)

Yea... know what you mean by looking washed out....

At first the perm made it easier to grow it out as I didn't go through the "grow out blues", but after most was cut off it acted like a plumper for me - my hair can be as straight as a bone.  I too blowdried my hair as you described... I love my round brushes!!

I had to keep the perm trimmed - I really hate to see grown out perms that look straggly... I really liked the style I had last November, where it was curlier on the bottom (not a tight curl) and I had a layer on top that I dried out straight (no perm there) - I had SO many compliments on that style.  I talked to my hairdresser about touching up the perm on the bottom because it wasn't doing well anymore and she said it wouldn't give me the result I was looking for, so I decided not to do it again, thus the short and shorter haircuts!!

So, it took me a little bit to realize that this is the Jody I know and love.  I didn't realize you posted a new picture until I saw this post.  I can be so dense sometimes.  I think you look gorgeous.  Your hair is very pretty and you could either use a for silver shampoo, or have your hairdresser put in some blonde highlights and lowlights.  Either way would work real well on you.  You skin is beautiful.

Thanks Sue! I was having an awful time with breakouts last summer and finally broke down and went to the Dermatologist.  They're doing facial peels and I've got a regimine I'm doing daily - and its helping.  That will probably get cut out though once I retire as the insurance isn't paying squat for it....

I'll probably go back to my comfort zone for now though.. the blonde.  This was a big change for me, and I've had too many life changes lately... I can always let it grow out again in the future...
