I'm NOT loving it....

I've had several positive comments about my new style and color.  While I like the style and its very easy to take care of, I'm NOT loving the color... I've had a couple of people tell me that it looks like I've had it highlighted and have been very complimentary.

When I look in the mirror I like what I see, but when I look at the picture that was taken of Gina and I, I really don't care for it.

I HAVE decided to take the early retirement and am now actively pursuing a job.  I know I'll be competing against younger people and know the positions I'm applying for appearance is a big consideration (as I'd be interacting for the company on their behalf).  I'm not sure being an older person with grey hair will be an asset to me.

So - I'm fighting myself about coloring my hair back to the color I used to have.  Its Preference by L'Oreal Champagne blonde (8 1/2) and have always had nice comments about it.  Sometimes I'd love to get adventurous like Heather did and go dark.. but not sure how it would look on me, and not sure right now is the right time to do it.  Of course the reason I'd consider the blonde again is I look back at pictures of me (recent ones before I let the color grow out) and like what I see... I do think the grey makes me look older..

I've got enough life changes happening I'm not really sure what to do about it.  It was a pain to grow it out, and I realize I can always do it again.. but... I really don't know....

HELP ME!!

Go for the blond. I think it looks more natural on you than you think. I do like th ecurrent cut you have though.

Now, somebody help me. I hate this length but I want to give it a chance too. What to do? What to do?

Thanks for your input!

Whenever I've grown my hair out, I go and get a perm, that way its easier for me to deal with it.  I got a perm just after my WLS and when I got it cut this past time finally got it all cut out (of course after having it touched up numerous times)

Not sure if you want to go that route though....

Now - what I have to do to get my hair some "lift" is get it texturized and add layers otherwise its as flat as a board.

Have you gone online and looked at styles you like that would be close to your current length?  How do you currently dry your hair?  When mine was getting longer and I was trying to grow out the layers, I'd use a large round brush and starting from the roots roll it under and dry it.  That also will help give it some lift and fullness at the bottom.

I'm going to ask about a perm this next time and see what she says. lol  I'm just learning to use the round brush thingy...I have to use a lot of spray to keep it from going flat though.

I made the stylist pull pictures of what she was aiming for last time. She came up with 2 pics of Glenn Close. Hmmm...

I like the bottom one and was going for that look the time before this cut.  I asked about another perm and she said it would be way too tight... Not sure how much work that would be without a perm, but would probably involve hot rollers and a curling iron, which I usually refuse to use.  If it can't be done with a blow dryer and round brush (of varying sizes).. I usually won't do it.

The style I have now I use only a brush on my bangs and my fingers for the rest of it.

I think the top one would look real cute on you.

Okay...so here's my honest opinion, for what it's worth, lol!!!!

To Gina:  When I saw the pic of the two of you, my first thought was wow Gina looks young!!!  Not that I've ever thought you looked old.  I just mean in that pic I think you look at least 5 years younger and probably closer to 7 or 10 years younger.  You have such a great smile and a sparkle in your eyes.  So I say give the hair a chance.  You really do look great!!

To Jody:  I immediately loved the cut, but then I've always thought you had great hair!!!  I'm not totally sold on the gray though.  I think you are one of those women who can pull off the blond with class.  I agree with you, the gray you may be a little harder to sell in the job market.  The thing is you can take an "older" women with a really smart cut with silver hair and she can pull it off.  But you are not old enough for that so you take the risk of the gray coming off as frumpy or matronly...two words I would NEVER EVER use to describe you.  I also think the blond would really compliment your glasses.

You both are beautiful, amazing women so whatever you decide...you'll rock it!!

♥ you girls!!!

Thanks Julie for your honest opinion!  I did pick the glasses out when the color was blonder...

Gina always looks great!  And I agree - she had such a sparkle in her eye that day!

I love your "honest" opinions, Julie. Keep 'em coming! lol  Me and my hair have a love/hate relationship at the moment. My stylist says I should keep going a little lighter and she wants me to try this new length. It's doing ok at the moment. If I ever have a "good hair" day, I'll post a pic. Thanks, babeee!

I have the worst time figuring out what to do with my hair. I really want to cut it all off and wear it short. It is easiest to take care of and everyone says it looks good on me. But I have been letting my hair grow for years and I have never had long hair before. I did get it cut a year ago because we were going on vacation and I needed something easier to take care of so I had it cut up to my shoulders but now it is growing out again. It is also still very thin, worse since surgery.
I also hate dying it but it's that time again.
I just tell myself that as soon as I find a style I like and know that I won't regret it, I'm going to cut off all my hair. I'm just not sure yet.
It doesn't help that my boyfriend kind of gets a panickey look on his face when I talk about cutting it and tells me "Just don't cut it too short". Then I worry he won't like me with shorter hair.
I don't really do anything with my hair anyway. I always wear it up because I can't stand it flying around. One of these days I will get the courage up to cut it all off.
