How many sugars for you??
I am wondering how many grams of sugar some of you can handle before you dump..I know not everyone does but those of you who do..everyday I eat a greek yogurt that has 16 grams of sugar and I love it, never have a problem with it...now for a second time I eat a different greek yogurt that has 17 grams of sugar and that is bad news!! I guess I didn't believe it the first time and thought I would try it again..really wish I hadn't

hmm... I am not sure but I know it s a lot less when there is fat involved .
Like I can eat a few jellybeans and not dump ( especially over a period of time ) but I will certainly dump if I eat a real full fat dessert or bites of a series of em say at a wedding ....
I honestly feel very strongly about this ..I am SO grateful for the exasperating dumping because its finally instilled a healthy fear of and avoidance of sugar in me for the first time in my life . I WISH I still woudln't try those gosh darned expensive jellybeans though!

Depends on what food it is. but i try to keep it under 10 because dumping is the worst feeling in the world! (unless it is fruit but i do limit fruit because too much does make me dump if i have too much)
i get the fage 0% greek yogurt. 1/2 cup (which is a perfect amount because it fills me up and doesn't slide) i think is 4.5 sugars but 1 serving is 1cup so it says 9 on the label....and then i mix sugar free preservatives in it (5 sugars for 2tbs i believe) i prefer doing that over getting the greek yogurt with fruit in it that do have 15-20 sugars. and it's cheaper because you can buy the big tubs that are much cheaper than the individuals :)

oh! p.s!! , you should try the fage 0% (1/2C) with 4tbs sugar free vanilla syrup (i actually use french vanilla) with 5 splenda packets and 2tsp ofcinnamon....o m g!!!!! to die for! sometimes i dip warm baked apple slices in it!

I am going to try that! That sounds really yummy..I think my limit is 15 because of my greek yogurt with 16 grams I leave a couple of teaspoons because I feel like I better stop..so I am up for trying things that are not on my threshold, although I am glad I dump because I was a sugar addict before it really is not a good feeling!

Now, last night I shared a piece of peanut butter pie with my BF's daughter. That was pretty adventurous for me, but I haven't dumped in a long time so I thought I was ok..... Oh, and I had 2 beers with dinner (the mix is a major no-no)
Well.... we get home and I'm not feeling too well. I get hot sweaty and shaky. Is it a hot flash, reactive hypoglycemia or dumping? hard to tell... I took a small little nap...
Usually RH happens with alcohol and carbs... but what really are carbs? SUGAR...
It is a trial and error event unfortunately.

Might have been dumping, I also dump when I eat too many carbs and beer is full of carbs..I think I may actually dump worse on carbs than anything..early on I would dump by eating mashed potatoes..and of course I am gluten free so I don't eat any bread or pasta which is probably a good thing since my body seems to hate carbs..
I am not really sure...but it seems to matter whay kind of sugar it is....

What exactly classifies "dumping"? I told my surgeon that I do not eat refined carbs(bread,rice,pasta,etc****assionally I have tried a little pirates booty or baked veggie sticks. I get heart palpatations, shaky & sweaty 7 feel like I have to lie down. I usually "pass out" for 20 min & then i'm fine. This will happen to me w/ high sugar fruits also. Is this a form of dumping as my surgeon said? What happens to other people when they dump? I have occassionally had some severe pain the few times I didn't listen to my body & ate too much but haven't tried to eat anything I'm really not supposed to. Thank You, Alyse
