1. Getting adjusted to the tweaks my dietitian and I made after my last labs. Have a test for my B vites and osteocalcin coming up next month.

2. Yep, all vites and protein on schedule.

3. Yep, have spreadsheet will travel. 3 computers with the latest copy...lol

4. Labs are pretty darn near optimal. Somethings I've had to accept aren't going to be optimal yet, so still working on them.  PTH is still too high, potassium is a little lower than I'd like, and dang zinc won't budge.

5. If anyone needs any of these documents, just ask, and I'll give you the links or send them to you in email if you PM me.

Y'all have a great Saturday and those in the path of the storms coming across, be careful out there.
In fact, it might be nice if those of you that made it through the storms when they came across your area already would report in and let us know you're ok.

1. Could do better, still working on it.

2. Not like I should. I get busy and time slips away on me and all of a sudden it's time for the next set too.

3. Yep, have spreadsheet. And will be getting tested for my 3 month mark soon...had to insist on it with my surgeon as the nut there said that 2x a year was fine (well, maybe after the first 6 months it is)

4. Labs are ok...not where the should be even tho according to the nut/doctor's/nurses, it's ALL NORMAL! (yeah, NOT)

5. Or they can ask me...

1. How are you doing on your vitamins and protein?
Doing great.  I do my am vits with my morning meds, pm with my evening meds.  Potassium and B12 are on my desk so I can grab them.  Don't take iron so I don't have to worry about seperating it from all that stuff.

2. Did you take all of yours yesterday and the day before and the day before that?
yes, every day.  When I am traveling, I sometimes miss B12 and potassium but the others are fine.

3. Are you tracking your labs on a spreadsheet so YOU can watch for downward trends?
yes

4. Are your vitamin and protein goals enough to keep your labs optimum?
yep, other than potassium which I am working on

5. Does anyone need Vitalady's suggested vitamin plans (surgery type specific), lab targets or a spreadsheet?
bookmarked it last time you posted it, thanks

We are at the tail end of the storm but still in the watch boxes.  I think we have missed major damage.

Hi Gina!  Let's try this again - had it all done and ready to hit post and my computer rebooted on me.

1. How are you doing on your vitamins and protein?  Good!  I'm better during the week than I am during the weekends, mainly with protein.  Tend to take my vits all the time (well, except for calcium and iron... )

2. Did you take all of yours yesterday and the day before and the day before that? Yes, protein and vits, except for calcium and iron...

3. Are you tracking your labs on a spreadsheet so YOU can watch for downward trends? Yes

4. Are your vitamin and protein goals enough to keep your labs optimum? Yes, except for calcium and iron....

I know - we are seeing a trend here....

 Good Morning Gina!

Great topic for this Saturday morning.

I think I'm doing fine with my vitamins and protein.  My plan doesn't call for any protein supplements but I eat foods rich in protein and track it daily on myfitnesspal.

I took all my vitamins.  It's my priority daily.  I have bottles of everything in my desk drawer at work so that I'm never without.  At home on the weekends I fill a 1/4 cup glass bowl on the counter with everything I need to take for the day.  At bedtime it has to be empty.  I have the same type bowl in the bathroom with my morning thyroid pill waiting for me to wake up.

I started tracking my labs long before WLS so I can see how my labs have changed post-op.  Everything is well in the normal range.  This week I added the Dexa Scan to the mix.

I have to say that I'm amazed that I'm keeping the vits together, given that I never took a vitamin before pre-op recommendations.  I think that YOU are instrumental in us LW's being so clued in to how important this all is.  So a big Thank YOU for being our guiding light.

 1. How are you doing on your vitamins and protein?

Pretty good though I still have a few days each month where I don't get 120 g or more of protein in. However, I've had a big improvement in the vits since I switched to Celebrate capsules. Because they don't have a lot of calcium or any iron, I can be much more flexible taking them. I take one with each dose of iron or calcium until I've had my 3 a day. And, if I forget to take one of my doses, I can always take 2 at a time.

2. Did you take all of yours yesterday and the day before and the day before that?

Yep.

3. Are you tracking your labs on a spreadsheet so YOU can watch for downward trends?

Of course. (I'm a data ***** :-))

4. Are your vitamin and protein goals enough to keep your labs optimum?

Yes and no. I haven't had my protein retested recently. I am just going by whether or not my hair starts to fall out. So I don't know for sure they are okay, they just seem okay. For the rest, my labs range from good to terrific depending on the item.

5. Does anyone need Vitalady's suggested vitamin plans (surgery type specific), lab targets or a spreadsheet?

Nope. I go by my labs.

1. How are you doing on your vitamins and protein?
If you would have asked me Thursday I would have said 100% perfect but I had surgery yesterday and even though I brought them all with me, because I waited 6 hours and I couldn't have anything to eat or drink since midnight the night before, I missed a few doses.  I started back up when I got back to my room.
2. Did you take all of yours yesterday and the day before and the day before that?
Like I said, before Friday morning I was 100% perfect, hadn't missed a dose.
3. Are you tracking your labs on a spreadsheet so YOU can watch for downward trends?
Yes and also they are online and they keep a historic record of my labs going back to 2006 so I can compare that way, too.
4. Are your vitamin and protein goals enough to keep your labs optimum?
I just had a comprehensive list done for the first time in January so I will be able to track them all going forward but my levels weren't too bad.  I had been on track with my vitamins for nearly 6 months before I had the complete set drawn so I have no way of knowing where some of the levels started at but of the ones that I had already done they were pretty good although there were a few that concerned me, like my B12 and Ferritin level, which were good but significantly lower then the previous level taken just a few months earlier.
5. Does anyone need Vitalady's suggested vitamin plans (surgery type specific), lab targets or a spreadsheet?
Thanks, I already have my copy.
