Hernia Surgery in the Morning, Bowel Prep Questioin X Post
I have surgery in the morning. Thank God I don't have to be there at 5 am like last time. I have to be there at 9 am. My surgeon doesn't require a bowel prep but I would like to have one anyway. I would like to avoid straining for as long as possible since that is what I believe caused it in the first place.
I bought a bottle of the magnesium citrate but I really hate the thought of drinking it. I was thinking a taking some milk of magnesia instead. Not any better tasting but maybe I would have to use less? I took some a while back though and it took like 2 days to work. I am also considering an enema. What would be the least painful, most effective way to go?

Here is my thought- don't do anything special. I think if you take something and it doesn't process by the time you have your bowels all back to their proper spot you will actually be setting your bowels up to have to do a lot of work when they have just been repaired. I think the most I would do would be a softener...nothing that would make the works move faster. Just my 2 cents. I had a internal hernia repair (bowels) and I did nothing special..I was A okay without any special treatment. Good luck to you.
I'll be swinging for your surgery.
I don't think I would do anything that wasn't suggested by the surgeon. Maybe a softner but no laxatives.
