Let's play small boned, large boned....

This is fun.  Are you small, medium or large boned?

I made the tape measure lay down and behave.  I'm 5'4" with a 5.5" wrist so I guess I'm small boned.  I'm not surprised as I wear a size 6 shoe and have small hands as well.  My mom was 5'2", 120 pounds and my dad was 5', 120 pounds.  My brother is 6' and slim.  I'm the odd one out in my family, topping 249 pounds at one time.

So what are you?

Women:

  • Height under 5'2"
    • Small = wrist size less than 5.5"
    • Medium = wrist size 5.5" to 5.75"
    • Large = wrist size over 5.75"
  • Height 5'2" to 5' 5"
    • Small = wrist size less than 6"
    • Medium = wrist size 6" to 6.25"
    • Large = wrist size over 6.25"
  • Height over 5' 5"
    • Small = wrist size less than 6.25"
    • Medium = wrist size 6.25" to 6.5"
    • Large = wrist size over 6.5"

Hi again Lee!

You come from a tiny family! Everyone in my family is overweight and now I am one of the smallest ones. Anyways. I'm 5'5" (so I'm told....I swear I am 5'6") and my wrist size is 6.5", Soooo is there an extra large category?? haha geeze I am an amazon!! I though I was large boned though because at 167lbs my ribs, hips and collar bones all stick out really far. Interesting chart, thanks for sharing...I am a nerd, I love stuff like this!! :)

I'm large boned. I've got a 6.5 inch wrist, and am 5' 3 1/2". Altho my wrist size has decreased I size some since surgery, it's never gonna get that small as to bump me down a size.

Liz, you've done so amazing with your recovery!  You're probably right about remaining large boned though.

I remeasured and it's still in the large boned but NOT by much. It's now a 6 & 3/8ths. It started at 6.625 inches so I have lost some.

The funny thing was shopping for "flipflops" last week. I like the kind that just have a band over the top, you find most of this kind in men's. Anyway, I've always had an odd foot anyway, it was, pre-op a 71/2-8 W with a double A heel. (my Mother had a quad A heel) .

Anyway, I managed to ruin my last ones while grouting the bathroom so I went to WalMart looking for a cheap pair. Well, I started with my normal size of M (7/8) and they were too big...tried several brands and they were ALL too big. So I tried a Small (5/6) and it fits. My feet have never been a 5/6 before.

I'm extremely small boned  (5'5"  )  for a 5'9"  person  which probably explains the osteopenia (  early osteoporosis )  that runs in my family  among the females.

This  is why  my body simply couldn't handle being over 200  lbs ... even over 175  I  had  super  serious  physical problems  GALORE  like  diabetes , couldn't breathe ...  could hardly MOVE  sometimes etc.....

Ok so at 4'11", my wrist is 6".  Large boned.

Neither of my grandmothers broke 5' so I come by short naturally although I am the shortest in the family.  I swear I was 5' once upon a time, but alas, no more.

Lee, did you find anything about what that does to the good old weight, height, BMI charts?

Price, good that your bones are hefty for being out there doing pony work.  You need to be strong!

I don't know what it does to those charts.  Maybe I'll research that next.  I'm just hoping to get to normal on the BMI chart which is 145 for me.  I guess that's why there's the range of healthy.  For me at WW it's between 117 and 146.
