Hello,
Welcome to the LW forum.  It looks like you're doing great.  I was a very slow loser but it does add up and eventually you'll get to goal.  You're only 5 months out and have had a great weight release up to now.  It will continue and you'll be so happy.

We have the same surgeon.  Do you come to the support group meetings?

Thanks for the response! I've been to 1 or 2 of the support group meetings in Richmond, but it was very difficult to get all the way up there on time after work, during rush hour. I live in Oakland, but work in Palo Alto. Went to a few on the Peninsula, but am trying to work out my schedule so I can get back to the Richmond groups.

Hey, we have the same surgeon and live in the same town.  I'm always at the support group, so please introduce yourself if you come.

Welcome to the LW Board!!!!!   It scares me when you say you are hardly eating anything.  What kind of totals do you average a day (calories, carbs, protein)?   I'd love to see you post your daily menu on Menus and Miles.  It helps to also read what others are eating.

If you stop and think about it, if you lose 4 or 5 pounds a month you are going to be at goal just after your 1 year surgeriversay.  That's Awesome!!!

I think most of us have a 3 pound range on any given day.  I know when I was going through the losing stage, I didn't claim a pound lost unless it stuck for 2 days in a row.

Program plan is to have 3 meals per day and all protein should come from food, ie- no shakes. Protein intake was very low, around 37-54 grams per day when I was following these instructions. About a month or so ago, I became concerned about the low protein so started adding a protein shake most days and now protein ranges from 84-94 grams per day. Increasing the protein doesn't seem to have made a difference as far as weight loss goes, at least so far?

My calories average is about 950-1000 per day.

This is what a typical day menu looks like:

Breakfast - 2 string cheese sticks

Mid-morning - 21 or 35 gram protein shake

Lunch - something like 4 oz. lunch meat and cheese, scoop of tuna and mandarin oranges, or 4 oz tilapia w/ tomatoes and onions

Dinner - something like 3/4 cup refried beans w/ melted cheese, 4 oz chicken, fish or beef, lunchmeat and cheese

Snacks - usually avoid, but ocasionally will have an orange

As far as exercise goes, I walk 3-7 miles 3x per week, shorter walks between that time and sometimes do yoga. Exercise slipped a bit for a few weeks when it was raining a lot, but I'm getting back into it now that the weather is better.

I don't know how your body absorbs with a revision, but I'm a firm believer in Protein Drinks.

Your food choices sound really good.  Check out M & M when you have time.

I am almost 18 months out.  Just lost a lb today. Do I count it, not yet.  Like Roz it has to stay off for 3 days before I consider it a loss.  If you look at my stats you'll see I am still losing and it has taken me this long to lose 80lb from surgery and 90 from the pre-op diet.  Hang in there, eat a little more and up the protein.

Oh yeah, I'll bounce any day about 3-4 lbs.

I will live each day in the mindful present

I'm supposed to try and get all my protein from food, and this is a typical day for me:

Breakfast - greek yogurt w/sugar free blueberry preserves, splenda, and 2 scoops of unflavored protein powder, and packed with Kashi GO LEAN Crunch cereal, plus two small precooked turkey sausage links.

Lunch - Maybe a Lean Cuisine with turkey or chicken and vegetables, or left over turkey patty from night before.

Snack - greek yogurt with sugar free cheesecake or white chocolate

Dinner - turkey patty, small cranberry sauce and brocolli.

snack - chicken roll-up with cream cheese, and sugar free apricot preserves.

I found that this met my protein needs, kept the carbs and fat low.  I also eat the chicken patties and meatballs that you can buy at Costco.  Also, mashed, cooked yams with a little sugar free maple syrup and cinnamon.

The calories are about 900 and I'm not hungry.

We had surgery on the same day. I have the same thoughts, too slow, last week only one pound. BUT I remind myself this is a marathon, lifetime thing. I can't get freaky if I am still losing.

Our bodies are all different, so we lose at different rates. I remind myself to have faith in the process.

Glad you posted on this board. It is very supportive.
