Good Morning. Retirement is about over

They really are thinking about moving me to "the building" this summer. Good news, it's better job security...bad news, easy life of being 5 minutes from the house and lots of freedom is over. {sigh} Need to clean out my cube--I have collected years of paper that I don't need and neither does anyone else. Plants--I have a mini botanical garden in my cube. Love my orchids. Anyway, y'all have a great Wednesday. What's on your list of to-do's today?

So glad you will have the benefit of job security but I know it is frustrating to lose the freedom!

Today I am doing extra cardio, working on taxes (total procrastinator), switching out my dd's wardrobe from winter to spring and reading a new book. I host playgroup today so I may dust off my earplugs LOL

Hope everyone has a productive day!

These days it's hard to complain about a job with more security.  But I know how much my freedom means to me and I would kick and scream if it went away.

I have a meeting with the state folks about a new Medicaid waiver (which is how I get paid and my staff).  I was lucky enough to get picked for the stakeholder advisory group so I will have input and information as it happens.  Looking forward to hearing what is coming.

Good Morning Gina,

Happy you'll have job security.  I know how important it is to me at 60.  I get it about being 5 minutes from work since I get to walk when the weather permits.  It almost takes me longer to drive to work when I factor in the parking garage and the two block walk from garage to office.

Just a normal work day for me today.  Tonight is my mini-support group.  Walk the lake if the weather is good, hang together at my house if it's raining as is in the forecast.

After traveling in your area this weekend I can definitely understand why you will miss the easy life of 5 minutes from your home.......  All of the traffic and DH and I both chattering our teeth...LOL

I'm glad they are including you in their plans.  I hated being the "new" girl when I started this job.

My to-do list is to finish a small pile that I keep pushing around on my desk.

Roz

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Glad you will have job security Gina.  How far will you have to drive each day?  I love being close to my house, but the town I live in, everything is close!!

I have got to work on the budget for fiscal year 2012.  It is due one day next week to one of our supporting agencies.  So many cuts and not enough staff, it is hard to work around all of it.

Congrats on better job security even with the lousy drive.  When I left work in June, I also left at least 90% of the materials I had created and the supplies I had bought.  I know the new teacher appreciated it, but it was really that I had no where in the house to put it!

Pilates got cancelled this morning and I'm not complaining since I didn't sleep very well last night.
I'm putting together plans for my two clients this afternoon.  Since I won't get home until after 7 DH is on his own for dinner.  Yeah-no cooking!
Have a great day everyone.

Where is "the building" at?  Glad to hear its better job security - that's definitely something to appreciate.

My job hunting efforts locally haven't been turning up much.  Posted my resume on Monster.com and got a pretty viable lead (they emailed me) but I'd have to relocate to Madison Wisconsin.  Nothing against Wisconsin, but IF I were to relocate, it definitely would be somewhere further south.  It sounds like I'd have a job out there if I wanted to relocate (not with the USPS).

I came home early from work today.  Woke up at 3 and didn't get back to sleep and this crud I have came back with a vengence today. Felt fine yesterday and thought it was gone... ended up taking a 2 hour nap.  Didn't plan very well though and left my laptop at work in case I was not feeling well tomorrow - I could have worked from home.

We did get the motorcycle into the shop today for its spring oil change and tune up.  Its a friend of Toms and he's got a shop down the road - very convenient.  With gas prices what they are, once the weather gets a little better you can bet I'll be using it as my main mode of transportation.  I saw several out today - it was in the mid 60's but it looks like early spring/late winter is back for the next few days and weekend.

Ugh... bitter sweet news!  Any public transportation options close to you?

I would give a toe, no strike that, pedicure season around the corner... or something to take the bus downtown these days.  I would have to go from one bus co and transfer to another and with my DD being in kdg this coming fall I need to know I can get to her quickly if I have to.  May have to bite the car pooling bullet again with DH and sacrifice sleep for gas$.

Hope your commute is not too awful long!

Oh the cube.  I know what you mean about the paper overload... and personal stuff.  I know I keep WAY too much personal stuff -- fast getaways are not in my future.  Good luck with the move, Gina!

Had day 1 of 2 day technology planning meeting today.  We have excellent consultants in and it went smooth.  Crossing fingers for Thursday!

Meg
