Hi, I'm Jackie.  I'm 35 yrs old, post op just over 2 1/2 yrs with a DS.  My starting weight was 234 the night before surgery, lowest weight 127 reached at 8 months!  It was my goal weight!  Seemed as my weight went down, my goal weight went down in my head..!!  But 130 was the goal I set before surgery.  I never got below 127.  I maintain now low to mid 130's.  I'm in a size Small/Med tops and a size 4 bottoms!  I don't jump on the scale much anymore, that is why I don't know exactly what my weight fluctuates between.  I go by how my clothes fit!  I use to be Very active here on the LW's board, but lately Life has happened and I've fallen away.  I need to get myself back on track with my vits, so far so good!  But I fell off the vits wagon BIG TIME!  I'm married 15 yrs in July (trouble in paradise though).  I have a 9 yr old son with my husband.  My son is my world!  I also have a (almost) 19 yr old daughter, whom I'm connecting with (gave her up for adoption at birth)!!!  Its amazing how life happens after surgery!  I guess because it is so much more enjoyable when you are healthier!!  Biggest thing happening now....Disney trip in May!!  Woohoo!!

I love reading these intro threads!!

There are never any problems, only solutions.  quoted by a dear and special friend!!!

My stats:
Starting weight 234 lbs    Height 5 ft 6 in
Goal in 7 months (127 lbs)
Currently: 120-123 lbs
Tops Small   Bottoms size 2!!!!

RNY on 11/29/10 with
Hi, I'm Amy. I had RNY on 11/29/10 so I am in month 4 post WLS. I have lost over 60 pounds, in addition to the 18 before surgery. I am free from diabetes, hypertension, and hopefully, sleep apnea (I find out this week!).

I live in Chicago, but am a true road warrior. I work for a national nonprofit, and my expertise is adult learning and workforce development. I enjoy my work but it is very demanding, and I am learning at the ripe age of 53 how to manage stess without food.

I live on my own (with two fabulous kitties - Wellstone and Querida). I am blessed with many, wonderful friends who are like family to me. I oversee the care of my 87 yo mother. She is an amazing person who is struggling with mild/moderate dementia.

I used to sing blues/jazz (miss it!), and am currently learning how to bellydance. Such fun!

WLS has saved my life. It is not always easy but always worth it. My fellow LWs have been such a great source of information, support, and friendship every step of the way. I love you all!

Amy, I have to ask!  City itself, or fringes?  I'm northwest, and would love having a LW somewhere near me now that Glenda's working in Florida!

I'll play!

I'm Lee, 60 years old, single, professional who's thankfully employed at the same company after 17 years.  I had my Sleevie done on February 17, 2010.  Not a single complication post-op.  I go to my Kaiser support groups 2x a month and have a mini support group from Kaiser that I walk with at least once a week.  We also do Pilates and Yoga together and really support each other to live healthy lives.  I feel incredibly lucky to have such wonderful support.

I have a 37 year old son Zach that I adore.  We travel together as much as possible.  This summer might be train or car travel through Eastern Europe where we haven't been yet.  I love adventure travel that includes hiking, kayaking, snorkling, lots of walking and everything healthy.  Zach is a great partner in crime for me.  He's currently at NYU working on his second MFA.  The first was in screenwriting and this one is in directing.  Hopefully one day you'll see me sporting a little black dress at the Oscars!

One of my favorite quotes - which I have the paperweight and also the saying on a mirrored wooden board is:

What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

That's how I felt about losing weight.  I always failed at 50 years of dieting.  This time with Sleevie I prayed that I would stand the chance of success so I'm working hard at it!

Hi

I'm Gina and I had the DS a little over 3 1/2 years ago. I lost 80 pounds which was 100% EWL and still maintain within a normal BMI range. I think the key to maintaining is protein shakes, low carb and lots of vitamins. lol  The LW board was the first board I posted to when I joined OH and the DS board the second. I love it here. You guys are awesome and put a smile on my face each and every day.

Hi :) I'm Charlene (Char). I am 38, married 15 years with a 6yo beautiful sassy dd. I worked as a xray tech for 13 years and now have been a sahm for 6 years. I love it! I deal with severe back pain from a work injury and fibromyalgia. I stay as active as my injuries allow and tend to push myself too far and that gets me in trouble.

I love my RNY! I have 18 lbs to go until I get to a healthy BMI. I am so thrilled with my new lifestyle! I love the food I eat, how I am forced to eat slowly and chew, the limits on what I can eat, etc... It has been a perfect fit for me :)

I struggle with getting my vits in 100% of the time (I am a perfectionist so I am pretty hard on myself)....I wish I could do more strenuous exercise but I do pilates, resistance bands and walk which is working just fine.

My passion is travel. I especially love adventure travel. Ziplining, scuba...that kind of stuff.

I eat a 40/30/30 nutrition ratio whi*****ludes 1 protein drink and the rest from food.

I try to be an encouragement to everyone I encounter regarding their health. My goal is to take what I have learned and use it to help others transform their lives....I am starting with friends and family :)

 Hi I'm Janet.

I'm 55 and married for the first time at 50. I adopted my daughter when she was 8 and she just turned 21.  My stepdaughter is now 28.  My RNY was in September, 3  months after I retired from teaching.  I've lost 64 pounds so far, and gained lots of physical health.  I'm happy with my progress so far and continue to work on taming that carb monster. Since retirement I teach functional life skills, academics and social skills to disabled youth after school.  I try to get to the gym or exercise classes several times a week and am learning to manage my post retirement time.

Love this board!

Hi everyone,

I check in and read almost every day, and I am thankful to all the regulars who keep the board going.

I had RNY in December and have lost more than 50 pounds.

I am a professor at a law school - this is a busy time of year for me.  I am looking forward to the end of classes in May.

I am 37 yo and have a wonderful partner and a wonderful 5 yo daughter and 4 spoiled cats.  I love movies, Broadway musicals, reading, and hiking.
