Lee,  I see folks referring to a "slider"  that enables us to eat more.  I'm not sure what that means. Can you explain? Please?

Hi Tracey,

I'm sure others will jump in here as well.

As I understand it, a slider food is one that slips through my Sleeve, and I think the RNY pouch as well, very easily.  For me slider foods are things like crackers, bread, cookies, chips, cakes.  They are generally high carb foods.   I have never read of anyone regaining weight from eating too much dense protein.  Where people get in trouble is with the carbs.  It's easy to eat carbs because they "slide" on down as opposed to the dense protein that sticks in the stomach for a long time digesting before it moves out of my Sleeve.

If you combine dense protein with bread it becomes a slider and digests much more quickly.  The way my Kaiser plan is written, we eat our protein, then a little veggies or fruit and then if there is still room, we can have 1/2 slice of bread.  It's just not worth it to me as I'd rather eat more protein or veggies and if I start with the bread it may keep calling to me.

I don't understand why it's so easy to eat those slider foods but I know that I really need to stay away from them or jeopardize my weight loss.  That's just me.  Other people can easily eat more and shed weight, even with the carbs, but it's just not my story.

I hope this helped explain it a little.
