the count down
I can't believe I am scheduled for surgery in 17 days!
Whoa nellie - when do the jitters start?
I have been so calm about all of this - (not like me at all!)
Trying to get a letter from the surgeon for work re time off and med necessity.
Get the house ship shape (argh to laundry)
Trying to plan some easy freezable dinners for my family
Getting supplies I need - have Unjury (chicken and unflav), bunch of samples of protein -- is that enough?
Making a list of things I need from Target and the grocery store...propel zero, broth, s/f jello, s/f popsicles.
Thanks for letting me spew!!!!!
Meg
Sounds like you are in good shape to start your new life.
Hopefully your Dr will let you know what you need for the first week or so. Some keep you on clear liquids, others go straight to pureed.
Expect that nothing will taste quite right when you get home but it gets better. Add gas-x stips to your shopping list, decaf if you haven't switched over altready, lots of liquid possibilites.
You'll be fine and it isn't like you are going to a deserted island. There's a wally world on every corner so don't worry.

Good luck to you!
I am usually a nervous nellie but never got that anxious... I think because I had thought long and hard about this decision and had a lengthy pre-op process that I was "ready" when the time came. It relieved me to not be an anxious mess.......it also felt surreal. Some do get scared and this is normal as well.
17 days will pass before you know it and you will be on the losers side of things.
We are here if you need us!!!

Meg, sounds like you are really getting ready. Don't forget Chap Stick, that helps when you can't having anything to drink.
It will be here before you know it. I got a little nervous in the operating room right before they put me to sleep - but I can tell you now it was the best thing I have done for myself...
Good luck and keep us posted.

You will do great! I'm not quite four weeks out and I can't believe how fast the time has flown by! I was a little nervous going in...but like others said, it didn't really hit me until I was on the table in the Op room! I woke up in recovery and wondered, what did I just do...but it has been a great decision. The gas pains were tough for two days or so, but I was back cooking dinner for the family within 3 or 4 days! (I admit I may have stretched it out a bit, it was nice to be the one being catered to!)
Congrats and enjoy the ride!
