How much weight did you lose or want to lose?

My top weight was 249.  I would have been much much higher if I hadn't been dieting for 50 years.

I set a goal of losing 100 pounds.  A normal BMI for me will be 104 pounds from my top weight.  It's taking me a long time, regardless of how careful I am with food and exercise and sometimes I really get down on myself for not doing good enough as I watch everyone around me get to goal so quickly.  That said, I know I'll get to my goal and maybe all the struggles along the way will help me stay there.

My highest weight was 214..I'm really short so it was a LOT for me.. think weebles wabble but they don't fall down..

Right now, I'm at 166 and wearing size 14P. In my heart, I would so love to be at 124 which would put me in the normal BMI range.  My doctor's goal was 140 which still even now sounds heavenly for me..but it is still not nomral BMI.. It would also bring me into the range that I had most of my adult life..size 10/12Petite. I know that I will have a minimum of excess skin etc etc.. however.. I did this to be healthy and I made my goal 124..

I have good days with foods and bad days..I'm learning how to deal.. because this is a life long journey and if I do get down to the lower BMI, I sincerely hope to, then it will be awesome. When I get to 140 I will be jumping up and down for shear joy.

I think you should make a goal and 150 is definately attainable..you are almost there!!!! Go for it!

Nursie girl, this is a life long journey. The number on the scale does not define you. HUGS

I started with a goal of 140 because I thought I would be able to maintain there.  I had weighted 135 previously and felt ok and figured I had at least 5 lbs of loose skin.  I was thrilled to get there but now know I can lose more.  So I am staying on the program and will see where I end up.  I started at a high of 220.  125 is the top of normal BMI.  I'd love to be there but we will see.  One way or the other, I am thrilled and folks around me say I am fine where I am.  10p pants and peitite small tops are great.

I understand the feelings of "guilt", even though I also recognise it makes no sense. We started out with lower BMI's, and speaking for myself, I cannot justifiably lose much more than 85#.

As a teen I did weigh under 120#, but now that I am 46 yrs. old, I think 130#  sounds about right. I originally set my sights at 135#, but losing has been so steady, I decided I could aim a bit lower. I feel awesome right where I am at, and have decided I will let my body have a little "say" where it wants to land at. I am noticing my weight loss is just beginning to creep ever so slowly, so I guess it's safe to say I am nearing my final destination.

Also, due to most of us struggling so long with our weight and self image, it only makes sense that we get these feelings of "guilt" over taking control of it. I, for one am working just as hard on my self image. A lifelong struggle for sure, and I am pleased to say I am beginning to be on the winning side of it! Good luck to you in your journey, and reaching your goal!

i started at 250.4 pounds.  i wanted to lose 95 pounds....desperately wanted to be at 155 pounds but felt that would be "only in my dreams"!  i got to 155.....then 150.....then 145.....now i'm at 143.6.  my nutritionist says my body will stop losing when it's where it needs to be.  she said i should weigh no more than 140 pounds.....but i now wear size xs in tops and i'm in a loose size 4 pants (thank you vanity sizing!) so i don't know that it's practical to think i'd lose down that far.  (especially when factoring in the weight of the loose skin!)  at this point i'm just trying to maintain.  if i lose more, that's fine....but if i don't....well....that's fine too.  i just know that i feel great and my health is great and that's the important thing!

you've done great!!!  don't compare your journey with anyone else's!  it will drive you crazy!

sending blessings and warm wishes your way!!!
Blessings,  J

When I starved myself about 10 years ago because of stress I got to 155. Once I started eating again of course I gained and I gained 100 pounds. I thought getting back to 155 would make me happy as I could buy in any regular store. Now that I am 10 pounds away I want to go lower to get into the normal BMI range and because I see we need rebound space I want to get lower. I read that we can sometimes get lower by finding our next set point that our body will accept. So I am going to try for about 135. I am just about 7 months out so I have a little time to get there and if I increase my 5k to 10k I know I'll burn more fat off my body.

Make a healthy decision and set yourself to the task, you can do it.

I started at 225....I have set a series of "mini" goals for myself....first one was 180 (the weight I was when I got preg with my first baby 8 years ago - hadn't seen that weight since)....I just met that goal.....my next goal is 165 which is the weight I was when I go married.....after that it will be 145 which is where I was when I graduated high school '96, then it will be 130 my final goal....a weight that I haven't seen since I was in the 7th grade!!  I'm 5'5 so 130 would not look "too thin" for me.

My doctor did not set a numerical goal for me....his goal was for me to fall with in the "normal" weight range for my height....he doesn't care if it's the high end or the low end....just as long as I'm in the the Normal range.

So far I'm down 46lbs....I'm a slow looser....but I'm still holding on to hope that  will eventually hit my goal!

I started at 229 (HW was around 250) and I'm almost 9 months out. I weigh 131 pounds and I am not unhealthy looking at all. I'd like to lose another 7 for bounce back protection but I'm not stressing over it.
I also did the mini goals. the day of surgery I was at 211, so at 199 I promised myself this bracelet and earring set I wanted. I hit 199 on my birthday (one month to the day after surgery) so DH bought them for me
next goal was at 175,
150 since that's normal BMI for us
been slacking since then, but i had clothes picked out for 135, 130, 125 and a tattoo as well.
I love a reward system that doesn't revolve around food! And I endorse it

my doc told me 145. I thought i would have been happy there too, but I can do better :)

Jenna,

I totally agree about interim rewards.  I give myself a spa massage once a month as a reward.  I do not tie it to the scale, but to my compliance for 30 more days.  Much better than overeating and ultimately cheaper than my old delivery food bill!

that is awesome! and similar to what i switched to

i don't know if the goal magic number in my head is a reality or not, at this point it's up to my body. i'd like to lose inches off my waist line and gut (not clue how many at this point or what is realistic) and the only number that drives me is my A1C right now :) I'd love to see tha tone go down (it's at 5.9, 5.7= not diabetic)

I switched my reward system over to a monthly thing, but i've not yet implemented it (darn funds)
but pyramidcollections has these really awesome clothes and I've set it up that if I am compliant for the month I get something off my dream list
such as this shirt :)this jacket
and this dress (in white)
