Rebecca Ann, whenever I begin counseling, so much "stuff" comes up.  The hurt and anger comes to the surface.  And now you don't have food to freeze those uncomfortable feelings.  It takes courage, and I think the crying and crabbiness are good signs that you are working on the real stuff.

If you are anything like me, you are busy, busy, busy, and don't really have time to feel lonely or needy.  So when you get sick or are recovering from surgery and have to stop, you are less equipped to handle those feelings.  This moment is such a valuable life lesson for you because you are learning how to manage those feelings.  Kudos on telling your aunt how you feel!  I hope you do the same with the friends whom you decide you want to keep.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how they truly get it.

Amy

P.S.  I have grown to really like you, and care about you.   And that's just from your online posts.  I better you are even cooler in person!

Yeah I agree about the crying that it is a good thing, even though I don't like it haha. I am like you, I never let the lonliness come up but now that I'm home and almost being forced to feel it, it's allll coming out. Thanks! I think my aunt must of told some other family members what I said because a few more called and I told them all the same things I told my aunt.

Awww thank you Amy, I feel the same way! You always have positive things to say to bring me out of my crabby moods! haha.  Next time you are working in San Francisco or somewhere near we need to meet up!

I'm probably like your friends.  I tend to get all wrapped up in my family things and forget everything else.

But, if one of my friends called me and told me they needed something, I promise you I would drop everything and do it!!  Give them a call and asked for help -- I bet you would be surprised.

Hang in there.

I get it. I've been going through a personal/family problem and kind of felt isolated. No one was calling and I sat home alone most evenings. I finally talked with a good friend of mine who thought that I had been ignoring her and that I must have been relying on others during my struggles. Needless to say, we were both under the wrong impression of eachother. That conversation was all it took to get us back on track and supporting eachother.

Take good care.

Sending hugs your way Rebecca!  I bet you have many more people to rely on than you're giving them credit for.  Let people know that you like being checked on.  They may be surprised to find that out about you.
